The Colour Room #12

Was a bit late for this one, but better late than never.   Enjoyed using this colour palette. I love this pic of Luke taken quite a few years ago on holidays.  He looks so handsome. Used some Rose Moka & old Basic Grey pp's.  I distressed cardboard and hand cut some of the Basic Grey pp, used EK Success border punch, some yarn, a few diecuts and a bit of paint to finish off.

Challenge Heaven - June Quote Challenge

June Quote Challenge - Challenge Heaven

Trying to get in some last minute challenges.  This LO is the Quote Challenge for Challenge Heaven which was "My Friend".  You also had to use black alphas.  I used black in the negative form for my alpha title by masking with cinder glimmermist.  Love these grungy pp's from Bo Bunny and Glitz Design.  The flower is from a necklace that I pulled apart and added 2 pins that are handmade and Prima bling.  The frame is a Daisy D rubon.  Finished off with some journaling which I inked to give it a bit more of a grunge look.

Mad About Scrappin - June 2 of 4 Challenge

This is a quick card I made for this challenge.  The criteria were negative space, mainly black and very little embellishments.  This was hard for me as I'm a more rather than less kinda girl... but it looks cute.  The stamp is from Unity Stamps and one of my favs.  Finished off with some red machine stitching.

Challenge Heaven - Card Sketch Challenge

This is another quick card for card sketch challenge.  Used Daisy D's pp's, Martha Stewart punch, Autumn Leaves and Inkadinkado stamps then finished off with some pearls.

Thanks for looking and have a great day:)

ARtastic June Challenge

Only just managed to get this one in for ARTastic this month.  I just printed some gorgeous pics of Brittany that we took outdoors last weekend.  I thought this one would be perfect as she is leaning against a tree.  I used Basic Grey Wisteria, Pink Paislee Queen Bee & MME pp's & Websters 6x6 paper pad which I cut out to frame the photo.  There are 3 little falling leaves which I also cut out.  The gorgeous tree is a diecut sticker from Websters .  There are coloured birds... one in the tree and one in the Websters cut out which frames the photo.  I also added a chipboard bird cage which I purchased at the Papercraft Expo and this is one of my favourite items.

This was the criteria for this month's painting "The Perfumed Garden" by John Coburn.

Diva Demand for an extra 6 bonus points

1 x tree = 1pt
2 x different coloured birds = 2pts
3 x falling leaves = 3pts

YAY!! - Another layout published with Scrapbooking Memories.

Thought I would send in a few LO's for general submissions to SM last week and I received an acceptance for my "New Day" LO.  I really loved this one as it's so soft and pretty.... so so excited.

From Screen 2 Scrap June Challenge

Stayed up to get this one in on time.  Been really busy ferrying the kids around as its school holidays.  Loved this challenge.  The inspiration was "Alice in Wonderland" poster and the criteria was:

1) A white rabbit = 1pt
2) A clock or a fob watch = 2pts
3) Drink 'me' bottle = 3pts

I used an old pic of DD sleeping... don't they look angelic when they sleep!!!.... and used the title "Off to Wonderland".  Did a fair bit of hand cutting for the elements on my page with Websters & Prima pp's.... I love these papers as they're fab for hand cutting.  Found an image on google for the white rabbit & drink me bottle.  The white rabbit has a fob watch... so all the criteria were covered.  The background paper had a circular design which I used to place my photo then handcut roses, clouds, the drink me bottle and a fairy around the photo with some lace and pearls.

The Colour Room #11

Loved this colour palette but I only just managed to finish this in time, so it was a bit of a rush.  I normally like to think about my LO's for a bit and fiddle with the pp's.  Decided to use the sketch this time and some old BG Sultry for the hand cut flowers plus few other oldies (Basic Grey & Prima).  The butterflies are some gorgeous Martha Stewart punches and the chipboard bird cage and birdies are a purchase from the Papercraft Expo and are from Scrapmatts.... so cute!!

YAY!! - My LO is in Print

So excited... I received my Scrapbooking Memories mag. in the mail yesterday and my work is finally in print.   Got such a buzz, I think even DD Brittany was a bit chuffed as it was one of her birthday LO's.

Talk soon:)

1,2,3 Challenge - They're Back!!!

1,2,3 - June Challenge

They're back and I'm so happy.  These were the criteria for the challenge this month.

One word: NEW

One dominant colour: WHITE

One Mystery technique: Paint smeared background

...and this is my take.  I used white paint for the background & Glitz Design Audrey pp's which have a grungey feel to them.  My title is New Day and the journaling reads "Brittany, I know life for a teenager can sometimes be difficult.  Just remember a new day is a chance to start afresh and let go of things we can't change." The white came from the paint, the Prima Flowers and title and also there is a fair bit of white in the photo.  Finished this off with some Prima pearls and machine stitching.

Just a Few LO's

Thought I would post a few of my older LO's.

Thanks for looking and have a fab day:)

Kraft It Up - June Challenge

KIU - Minimalist LO

This is my LO for Kraft it Up this month.  It was a minimalist challenge.  Probably put more than I should have on the LO, but I like they way it came out.  This is a pic I took quite a few years ago of my niece whilst on holidays.  I love this pic... she looks breathtaking!!  Used the kraft cs for background with paint splotches.  The pp's are LYB, Websters, Jenni Bowlin & Cosmo Cricket.  Used one of my fav MS punches, some lace, feathers & some netting.

Scrap the Girls - June Challenge

This is my LO for Scrap the Girls.  The criteria was birthday pics and make it bright & use 3 different alphas in your title.  Had a bit of trouble trying to find a pic that had no boys in it as her brother Luke is usually in the shots, so I found this pic and enlarged it and cut around Brittany.  I used yellow glimmermist with a doily to give it a glow like the candles then hand cut WRMK Frenzy pp's which are lovely and bright.  I punched with an EK Success border punch in red to frame the whole LO.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

The Colour Room #10

Only just got in with this challenge.  Have been very busy and not had as much time to scrap.  This is one of my favourite photographs and I have used it before as I have 2 children, which means 2 lots of LO's for some photos.  Had a little trouble trying to find papers and elements that fit the palette.  In the end I used some recycled corrugated cardboard for the background and Websters, Dream Street and Daisy D's pp's.  Also used some salami netting which I purchased from a reject shop.  The frame and title are from MME and I finished off with some yarn and a stamped sand dollar.

Stuck Sketches - June 1 Challenge

This is my take on June 1 Stuck Sketches challenge.  This is also another of my favourite photos of my 2 boys.  Used Bo Bunny Mamma Razzi, Basic Grey Basics, Kaisercraft & WRMK pp's.  Masked the circle element with glimmermist and a Tim Holtz mask.  The black background is from a non-slip mat which I used for some texture.  I bought this in a dollar store and purchased a few colours as I love the look.

I'm off to try and get a bit of scrapping done (cross fingers).

THE COLOUR ROOM #9

I just love this site.  The works created here are out of this world.  This is my take on the #9 palette.  The colours are absolutely scrummy, really enjoyed this one.  Used lots of pps from Websters, Autumn Leaves MME, Bo Bunny, MM,  Daisy D & Scrapworks.  Decided to hand dye and cut up an old lace doily that was my mum's to add a bit of texture.  Hand cut the Websters and Autumn Leaves pp's for those gorgeous flowers and punched the Daisy D pp with the Martha Stewart doily lace border punch.  Added an old lace flower given to me by my lovely neighbour with a touch of bling peeping out from the distressed edging and a Prima flower with a Prima bling centre.  The floral sticker under the title is from LYB and I recycled the strip at the bottom on the MME Tres Jolie pp for my title as it was very fitting for the page.  Just love how this turned out.

Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo

Went to the Expo on yesterday with my friend Rebecca.   Found a few bargains and managed to purchase some gorgeous chipboard cutouts that I will use as masks for glimmermisting.  I went to the show determined not to buy any stamp sets, but of course I couldn't help myself when I say the Darkroom Door butterfly set... it's absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to use it.

Rebecca and I went to a class by Petrina McDonald in the morning and made 2 LO's.  I didn't have the correct size on my photos so I tweaked and changed mine up a bit.  Still tweaking the other LO.  We made some cute ribbon flowers which were so simple and had a play with some paint for the background.. it's so much easier to apply with a credit card.  This is what I came up with.

Challenge Heaven - June Sketch

Just finished a quick LO for the Challenge Heaven June Sketch.  I have used these pics before but Brittany looks so lovely when she smiles and I don't seem to be able to get her to smile when I take pics of her these days and OMG she's wearing a dress which is a very rare occurrence.  These were taken on Christmas Day whilst on holidays.  Used Rhonna Farrer,  and Fancy Pants pp's, Martha Stewart Punch, lace, ribbon and some bling and a lovely butterfly brooch which I purchased in a discount store.

On a Roll - Another Challenge Win with Kraft it Up

So excited to find out I had won another challenge for May at Kraft it Up.  The work on this site is gorgeous and very inspirational.  Check it out at http://kraftitup.blogspot.com/.  The challenge always uses Kraft paper.  Last month's challenge you needed to use KRAFT and you had to create your OWN PAPER, your background paper (Kraft) or you could create some patterned paper to use on your page. It had to be created by stamping, misting, masking or painting and you could use any medium inks, glimmermist, texture paints, gel mediums, paints, crackle paints etc...

This was my take, which I really enjoyed putting together as I really love the grunge look.  I created my background kraft paper by misting over some mesh and stamping along the borders of the pp with a Rhonna Farrer border stamp.

Thanks for stopping by.  Cheers Cathy

MOJO'S GONE MISSING!!

I haven't done a lot of scrapping since my last post.  My mojo was missing and daily life can sometimes get in the way of being able to focus on getting those creative juices flowing.  I will have a bit more time this week, so I will get the head down and tail up and finish a few more challenges.

Colour Room #8

This is my take on Colour Room Palette #8.  I love purple and green together and have used a lovely pic of Brittany which I took last year.  Used white C/S which I misted and used a doily as a mask.  Punched a circle from some purple Prima pp with a lace circle punch, then added Prima flowers and leaves and some French knots in purple.  Stamped around the border with a Rhonna Farrer border stamp in purple and added some Prima flowers with green French knots and hand stitched in green around the photo.

Challenge Heaven June Word Chall

Enjoyed this challenge.  You had to use the word YUM which I hand cut in Kaisercraft pp then drew a white border around the letters, surrounded the title with a cute banner and some heart buttons.  You also had to use scallops and rounded corners... I used a scalloped frame from MME around the cute pic of Brittany at 3 years of age really enjoying a piece of chocolate cake, scalloped Martha Stewart punch and Kaisercraft pp and scalloped a piece of check pp.  I rounded the background pp's from Kaiser and MME, then added clusters of embellies and some buttons.

Exciting News - Another Layout Accepted

Finally received a letter of acceptance for my 2nd LO for Scrapbooking Memories.  This will be published in  Vol. 12 No. 9 and is titled "Snips & Snails"

More Exciting News - Artastic Challenge Win

I'm so excited as I entered the Artastic Challenge for the 1st time in May and won the "Picture This" Challenge.  I have won a fab prize pack which I can't wait to play with.  If you don't already know this site, check it out at artasticchallengeblog.blogspot.com/.  This was my the LO that I submitted.

Amanda's Scrap Swap - May

These were the swaps I made for Amanda's May swap for embellies and ATC's.  The theme for May was animals.
