Scrap The Girls - May Challenge

Hi Ladies,

When I saw this month's challenge at Scrap The Girls, I knew it would be perfect for pics I have from Brittany's Year 12 Formal.

The criteria for this challenge was to use the quote:
"A smile is the best makeup a girl can wear"
I silhouetted the photo of Brittany in her gown and hand wrote the quote around her face.  I am really enjoying playing around with the Viva Decor inka gold pastes which have a beautiful metallic shimmer.  I used the Lava Red Inka Gold which I mixed with some extra fine glitter before applying over a Prima mask.  A touch of the Silver Inka Gold was used to colour the butterfly and doily filigree charms as well as the metal button and then a little of the Rose Pink to highlight the tips of the butterfly charm. Nicole from Craft Queen has some colours available at her store.  Click HERE for the link.

The gorgeous handmade flower was made by Monica Brady and can be purchased from her store The Trinket Track.  The butterfly charm, and metal button also come from her fab store.  Check out the link HERE.

Materials Used:  Prima and Kaisercraft pp's, paper doily, Craft Queen pink washi tape, rhinestone brad, Lava Red, Silver, Rose Pink Viva Decor Inka Gold, Prima mask, The Trinket Track butterfly charm, handmade satin flower, metal button, Cheery Lynn doily die, recycled rhinestone necklace, Kaisercraft bling, D-Lish filigree doily charms, Lindy's Stamp Gang mist, Stampendous extra fine glitter.

Bird is the Word Challenge - Moment

Hi Ladies,

I thought I would try something totally different whilst creating this LO.  Normally, I start creating with a photo in mind, then choose papers which I think will suit the photo I have selected and let my ideas flow from there.  This time around I started with one piece of pp and decided to just have fun playing with some mixed media on my background, then introduced another pp and layered a bit more mixed media.  Once I was happy with the background, I chose a photo, a few more pp's and some embellishments and trims from Craft Queen.

I checked out the current challenge at Bird is the Word and saw that this fortnight's word was Moment... a nice and easy word to incorporate into my LO.  On the bottom of my banner is the quote "Everything beautiful has its moment".

The mixed media background was created with a piece of MME pp which has a overall tiny blossom pattern.  I used some pva glue to adhere some tissue paper and paper doilies over the top of the pp.  Next, I spritzed and dripped some blue mist over the tissue layer.  When it was dry I fussy cut some Bo Bunny hexagon pp on the corners and smudged some gesso around the edges to soften.  Masks are one of my most favourite things to use at the moment.  I used a Crafter's workshop chicken wire mask randomly placed around the edges with some green ink and I have a new Christy Tomlinson doily mask which I have been dying to use, so I added another layer with the mask and some gesso, then applied the gesso around the edges of the paper with a few smudges here and there.  To finish off my background I splattered some glimmermist in lime and blue.  I really enjoyed the process of building up all the different mixed media layers... drying time takes a while, but it is totally worth it!!

Mother's Day - 6" Paper Pads

Hi Ladies,

Mother's Day is only a week away, and for those of you who enjoy making handmade cards, I thought I would share a couple of cards created for Craft Queen, using the gorgeous Prima Divine 6" paper pad and the matching Notecards and Crate Paper Fourteen 6" paper pad.  Using 6" paper pads with a few gorgeous embellishments and a little washi tape or ribbon are a quick and easy way to create a special card without too much fuss, to show one of the most special people in your life how much you care.

Hugs and Kisses
I cut out the centre of the Prima notecard and backed it with some of the Prima paper, then stamped my greeting in the centre for this card.  I also cut out the teacup from one of the other notecards and layered it with some foam tape.  The floral washi tape was torn and used on the edges of the card base and I also adhered some to the back of my crumpled peekaboo corner.  Finished off with some pretty mint satin seam binding tied into a bow and topped with a cream pearl resin flower.

Special Day
On this card I tore the chevron pp and overlapped it on the heart pp, tucked some pink stitched ric rac underneath the torn edge.  I also cut out 3 hearts and gave them some dimension by adhering with foam tape.  The ocean lace washi tape was torn and adhered to the edges of the chevron pp.  I then stamped the Kaisercraft flutter and greeting stamp in black over the top.

The little flower cluster was made with 2 sheer organza flowers with some aqua paper flowers from my stash underneath to create some softness.  I folded the sateen white flowers in half and tucked them under the flowers, then topped the flower centres with a small round pearl.  I finished off with a couple of the cute pearl 5 petal flowers adhered to the torn edge of the pp.

Thanks so much for stopping by ♥

OUAS May Challenge

Hi Ladies,

I have the new challenge for Once Upon A Sketch which is:

Theme: Numbers!!!

This month, we ask you to include a number , ANY number, on your layout. It has to be VISIBLE on your layout and it can be in your title or part of your journalling. It can be a date, an age, a house number, an anniversary, the number of children you have, the number of pets ....anything you like. But please make sure that there is some explanation through your journalling, somewhere on your page or blog about what this number means to you.

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Check out the link HERE for Rules on how to enter, our gorgeous Design Team and Guest Design Team LO's and to see the fabulous prizes from our sponsors.

15-11-12 - Cherish the Moment
For the the numbers take on this month's challenge I decided to use the date of my daughter's Year 12 Formal.  I drew on the photo for my inspiration using the blue and silver of her partner's jacket and Brittany's lovely white dress.  The mixed media background was created using a Crafter's Workshop stencil with gesso.  While the gesso was still wet I sprinkled some glitter glass... love this stuff it has glass, micro beads and extra fine glitter all mixed together.  I then lightly misted and splattered with sapphire glimmer mist.
The lovely chipboard butterfly is from our wonderful sponsors Imaginarium Designs.  I just coated with gesso and added a pretty pearl embellishment from Craft Queen.

Materials Used:  Kaisercraft, Basic Grey and Little Yellow Bicycle pp's, Imaginarium Designs chipboard butterfly, Prima resin frame, white blossoms and blue metallic flowers, Dusty Attic flowers, Crafter's Workshop stencil, glitter glass, Glimmer Mist, Martha Stewart border punch, Heidi Swapp sticker, Craft Queen pearl and velvet ric rac, lace, K and Co tag, October Afternoon alpha stickers, gesso
