Scrap the Boys

15th July Challenge

Just scraped in with this challenge for Scrap the Boys in time for the end of the month.  On this challenge you had to use stamping and there was an optional sketch.  I thought  some bright October Afternoon, Crate Paper, Cosmo Cricket and Fancy Pants pp's would go well with this photo of Luke.

I stamped several circular designed stamps from 7 Gypsies, Kaisercraft, & Inque Boutique which I used in my clusters of embellies and the scalloped border was stamped with an Inque Boutique stamp.  The Martha Stewart border punch (loopy) was used to frame the photo and of course I had to ink my edges for a bit of definition.

So Gorgeous - TCR #16

Have missed the last 2 colour palettes for TCR... having withdrawals.  Just managed to get #16 done in time.

Loved using this colour palette and the K&Co pp's went perfectly.  Also used some Basic Grey and Crate Paper.  The crochet flowers add a lovely texture to the LO and were made by my wonderful neighbour Pat.  Had to finish off with a bit of misting, distressing and machine stitching for a bit more texture.

The journaling reads "Brittany, Sometimes when I look at you I can't believe you are almost a woman.  It seems like only yesterday you were my sweet little baby girl.  I know I always tell you how gorgeous you are, and even though you have your little moments, as most teenagers do, I want to tell you that you are gorgeous on the inside as well.  Love Mum".

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Challenge Heaven - July Song Challenge

Still have Luke who's not well and I'm almost back to normal... still getting headaches, so it's a little hard to concentrate, but I managed a LO today for Challenge Heaven.  This was a song challenge.  You had to use the title "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and a patterned paper for your background.

Used some Fancy Pants & MME pp's.  I love aqua blue and lime green together.  I framed the photo of Brittany and her friend with a felt frame then teared the green paper and added a lovely CI velvet flower.  I just had to use some of my punches (Martha Stewart & EK Success) & to give the LO a bit of texture I distressed & inked some of the edges.

OUT OF ACTION!!

Been out of action for a while here as have had everyone sick with the flu.  Starting to feel a bit better, so I thought I would tackle another challenge.  This LO is for the July 15th Stuck Sketch.  Just a quick and simple one to get back into things.

Some recent pics I took of Brittany.  I'm not sure how much longer she'll agree to photo shoots as she was a bit cranky with me as I kept telling her not to make faces and to try and smile.  I did end up getting some lovely pictures in the end.  Used Basic Grey basics for background and Prima pp's with a bit of bling and some inking.  Thanks for stopping by :)

Exciting News!!

I received some exciting news late last month from Kate at Scrap the Girls.  She asked if I would like to be the featured scrapper for July... and of course I happily accepted.  I was very honoured and so excited as the DT team at Scrap the Girls are fabulous.

Here is my LO for this month, which was a sketch challenge.  I love this pic of me and Brittany taken a couple of years ago and it goes with one of my favourite colour combos ...  red, black and white.   Used some Bo Bunny pp's, Prima flowers & pearls, doilies, and a bit of stamping for some of my embellishments.

Stuck Sketches - July 1st

Finally got around to 1st Stuck Sketches challenge for the month.  Decided to get another LO of Luke as I have been focusing a bit on LO's of Brittany.  Teen boy and grunge always go well together and I do love grunge.  Used Crate pp for background stamped with Prima music stamp and inked around the edges.  The pp's are Bo Bunny which I distressed then I stamped some embellies with Kaiser and Marah Johnson stamps.  Finished with a bit of machine stitching.

Kraft It Up Challenge

This months KIU challenge was to use kraft cs of course and to have 4-6 photos on your LO.  I decided to use some recent pics I took of Luke which he was playing is guitar.  Thought I would go for the grungy look and used kraft for background which I stamped with Prima music stamp, splattered some paint and inked the edges.  The pp is Bo Bunny Mamma Razzi and the embellishments are from Creative Imaginations.

Scrap the Boys - July Challenge

This month at Scrap the Boys the challenge was to use a portrait shot and record your boy’s vital statistics right now making sure you add in some quirky facts.  This was my take on the challenge.  I used a very recent pic of DS Luke, looking very handsome.  The pp's are Prima, Glitz Design, Rusty Pickle and Kaiser.  The embellishment used are Basic Grey Basics and Glitz Design.  Grunged it up with some silver and black misting, stitching and staples and then stapled on some string.

The 10 things Luke loves are:  listening to heavy metal,  to play your guitar, the band 'Trivium', watching 'Top Gear', your Doc Martins, sneaking coke from the fridge, dressing up for Cosplay, Mum's bolognese, to watch Anime and getting on your computer.  TFL

1,2,3 Challenge - July

This month's challenge was:

One Word: Passion
One Dominant Colour: Red
One Mystery Technique: Grunge

Here is my LO for this challenge.  I started off well on this one but got blocked and had to leave it for a day before finishing it off.  I used Prima, Jillibean & Bo Bunny pp's.  Masked some butterflies with scarlet glimmermist and crackled over it, but you can't really see the crackling, then spattered some black paint.  I made circular tear in the Prima pp and backed it with the red Bo Bonny paper then silhouetted the pic of me & my DH. Did a fair bit of distressing & inking for a grungy look.  Stamped the background paper randomly with Prima music stamp.  I also stamped the chandelier and the wings on the title.  The red flowers are Prima... I added some diamond dust to the edges and the background flowers are hand cut, crumpled and inked.  Finished off with some machine and hand stitching.  This LO looks so much nicer IRL.

Present for my Sister

Thought I would share these LO's which I put in frames for my sister.  These were some old photos of my sister and my mum when she was little and also a pic of my BIL as a baby.  She wanted something to put on her wall so I decided to make these for her in a vintage style as they were older pics.  Couldn't get the colours to show as nice as they do IRL.

Cheers, talk soon:)

Challenge Heaven

July Colour Challenge

This month's colour challenge was green and brown.  You also had to add a butterfly on you LO.  Just recently took some pics of Brittany and thought this would go perfectly for this challenge.  Used Prima pp's & flowers.  The background is an old music sheet.  My son Luke just recently had work experience in a music shop and the owner gave me some gorgeous old music sheets to use in my scrapbooking.

July Ebony & Ivory Challenge

This month's E&I was orange with black OR white and use small alphas on your LO.  I chose orange and black as my colour combo and used a family shot taken on Halloween last year which I love even though it does look a bit scary.  I used Kaisercraft for the background and Pink Paislee, Cosmo Cricket pps.  The tree was handcut and the border on the bottom is a Pink Paislee clear sticker.  The title is a Fancy pants glitter overlay.  I used some orange Basic Grey which I embossed with the new Tim Holtz folders and inked in black and the skull and wings is Tim Holtz grungeboard.  A bit of distressing to finish off the LO.

Talk soon :)

From Screen 2 Scrap

July Challenge
This month's FS2S challenge inspiration is the Sherlock Holmes movie poster.  The criteria was to use teal, metal somewhere on your LO and your title in a rectangle.  This was my take on the challenge.  Starting to get more comfortable using paint on my LO's... always worried I will muck it up.  Painted the background in teal then splotched some black paint.  The metal is a soft drink can which I embossed with the new Tim Holtz folder and inked over with Stazon.  Also embossed some black cardstock for a bit of texture.  Used Basic Grey basics for the background with WRMK and Glitz Design pp's.  Finished off with stamping in the corners and machine stitching.
The Colour Room #13

Very girly palette this week.  I only just snapped this pic of Brittany last week.  Used LYB and Pink Paislee pp's for this LO.  Of course I had to add some hand cut elements.  The flowers are from a necklace, believe it or not!!  Decided to use a bit of misting, but had to combine the colours as it was a bit too pale.
