Tuesday Tip with Kaisercraft

Hi Everyone,

This week at Kaisercraft, it's my turn to share a Tuesday Tip, so I thought I would show you how to alter your bright pp's a few different ways by softening the colours using gesso. These techniques can also be used with softer coloured pp's for a more pastel look.

Top left - Dampen a sea sponge in water, squeeze, then dry off excess water with a tea towel, so it's only just damp.  Lightly dab into some gesso, then pat the sponge onto your pp.  Keep sponging until you are happy with the coverage.  I like to cover most of the paper, leaving a border around the edges untouched for some contrast.

Top right - This section was altered with a damp paintbrush and gesso.  Use up and down strokes to apply gesso mixed with a touch of water. You can see the difference between the sponging and watered down gesso which just lightly softens the colour of the paper.  The thicker the gesso is, the less the pattern and colours will show through.

Bottom left - Using gesso and a bit of folded cardboard, lightly dip the folded edge of the cardboard in the gesso and drag it up and down your paper, for a messier look.

Bottom right - Lastly, use gesso and a densely patterned mask which will cover most of the pattern. Here I have used the Kaisercraft bubbles stencil.

If you look at the closely at the example, you can see the difference in colour between the original bright background and the changes with each different technique.

I have created a soft colour wash card using the sponged technique and then used the leaves from the tree template on the corners of the card. On the envelope I have used the brushed watered down gesso technique.

Kaisercraft DT - Bow and Arrow Collection

Hi Everyone,

For my third post for this week at Kaisercraft, I am sharing a few projects using the new Bow and Arrow Collection.  Check out the Kaisercraft blog and Facebook Page to see how our talented Design Team were inspired by this collection.

The Perfect Day - Layout
I have been digging through a lot of my old photos of the kids lately, looking for inspiration and found this lovely pic of Brittany enjoying a day at the park. There are so many sweet papers in this range, so I decided to layer them under my photo.  The Kaisercraft flutter template is one of my all time favs.  I have used it to create my background, masking with some Viva Inca Gold in a peach tone to match in with the papers.  To soften the overall look I coated my background with gesso, then stamped over the top with the triangles texture stamp in green.
I love being able to add co-ordinating accents with the collectables... no searching through your stash trying to fnd just the right embellishment... how great is that!!   Did you notice the altered ribbon rose?  I decided to have a go at Alison's Tuesday Tip - check out the link HERE.
The Bow and Arrow sticker sheet has the cutest designs, here I have used part of the banner border and embellished it with a couple of jute twine bows.

Kaisercraft DT - Be-YOU-tiful Collection

Hi Everyone,
I am sharing my 2nd posting for this week at Kaisercraft using the gorgeous new Be-YOU-tiful  range.  Totally fell in love with this nature inspired range, which has some delicious papers that cry out to be fussy cut.

"Life is Full of Wonderful Memories" - Layout
Our family has wonderful memories of holidays spent on the farm in Forster.  Love that the kids were able to get a taste of what it's really like to help out with everyday chores,  like moving the cows to fresher pastures.  Loved the nature themed feel of these pp's which are perfect for those outdoorsey photos.

I love to fussy cut my papers to create depth to my LO's, so when I opened up my parcel of goodies and saw this range, I was in heaven.  So of course the first thing I did when I started my projects for this range was grab my scissors.   For this LO I fussy cut the leaves from the Graceful pp and adhered them with foam tape to the cream side of the Delightful pp to make them pop.
The background was altered with the Kaiercraft Lattice stencil using Viva Inka Gold paste, then stamped with the texture and script stamps as well as stamping around the edges with a woodgrain edges stamp.
The Kaisercraft fancy corners and fancy border wooden flourishes are becoming one of my favs.  I have left them natural to blend in with the outdoor feel to my LO.

Other: Metallic Paste, Inks

"Loving Life"-  Layout
Couldn't resist a little more fussy cutting for this LO.

This time I cut out the gorgeous roses and added a couple of the paper blooms, which I flattened out, so that I could tuck them in amongst the fussy cut roses.
I altered the wooden fancy heart flourish with pink embossing powder to match in with the colour scheme.
Loved the Diecut and Specialty Gloss papers that co-ordinate with this range.  Here I have used the speciality gloss paper as a resist by blending in some pink ink in both corners.  I then cut out the centre square and sandwiched the Diecut frame in between the 2 pieces of the altered gloss paper.

Kaisercraft July DT Reveal - Pitter Patter Collection

Hi Everyone,

So excited to share my first Kaisercraft Design Team post for the week using the beautiful new "Pitter Patter" range.  I have created 5 projects with this adorable range so it's going to be a bit of a lengthy post, so bear with me!!  Make sure you pop in to the Kaisercraft Blog and Kaiercraft FB site   to see all the gorgeous creations from our super talented Design Team.

"Baby Girl" - Layout
Found this old baby pic of Brittany which I managed to crop and tweak until I was reasonably happy.  She does look so cute here and her little romper matches perfectly with the papers.

Had a play with the background on this LO. I started  by fussy cutting the hexagons and applied them diagonally across my page.  I  randomly stamped over the hexagons using a Kaisercraft texture stamp, then masked the doily template using gesso and finished off with mist splats.
To create the embellishments I have used some of the collectables with the the diecuts from the matching paper pad, then used pearls to accent the embellishments.

"2 Months" - Layout
Luke is almost 21 now and trying to find nice pics of him as a baby isn't easy, but I did come across this photo of Luke at 2 months which was taken by my BIL who isn't too bad with a camera.
I layered serveral of the pp's here which I tore, fussy cut and punched to add a bit of dimension.  To frame the photo I layered some of the collectables and one of the labels from the pp's, and highlighted with a bit of bling and one of the paper blooms, which I altered by removing the centre and flattening out, then adding a fabric brad.
Couldn't go past using one of the Kaisercraft templates (diamonds) on my background, which I spritzed with mist and then stamped over the top with the Kaisercraft script stamp.

Color Stories Inspiration #130

Hi Everyone,

I have been down with a nasty virus for the last 2 weeks and am only just feeling like I am getting on top of it, so my mojo is seriously low at the moment.  Luckily for me this week's case file #130 for Color Stories Inspiration came with a gorgeously vibrant colour palette, so I managed to scrape this one in.
I decided to go with the obvious and created an Australia Day LO using some beautiful flowers and embellishments from Manor House Creations.  Every year my husband's Aunty Dee would invite all the family down to Palm Beach for an Australia Day BBQ.  It was always a lovely day of catching up with friends and family.  Sadly Aunty Dee passed away last year, so for our family Australia Day will always be a way to remember her fondly.
The bright red Country Estate flowers from the new collection were the perfect fit for my Australia Day LO.  I teamed them with a white camelia to make the flowers pop.

Loving the new wooden embellishment frames.  I altered the Shine frame by painting it white and highlighted the stars in red white and blue.

Evidence:
stars - pp and punched elements and little star on wooden frame
stripes - pp
metal - camera and starburst bling embellishments
circles - masking, stamping, buttons and bling
flags - in photo

Testimony:   journal about a patriotic holiday - "Australia Day"  (I have some hidden journaling on the tag on right hand side of the photo, and some written journaling on photo.

Manor House Creations Product:
Flowers - Country Estate mix, Camelia-teal red and white, Minuettes-denim, Leaves- light green lge, Leaves- light green med, teeny weenies
Embellishments - Wooden  Elements - shine frame, Thoughts Wandering chipboard words

Manor House Creations - Thoughts Wanding Collection - Masculine LO

Hi Everyone,

Sharing a LO created with the beautiful new collection by Manor House Creations called "Thoughts Wandering".  As these papers lend themselves to either masculine or feminine projects, I decided to create a masculine LO, instead of my usual girly pages.

Take Me Away
I love this photo of my husband enjoying a day at the beach fishing, and thought it would be perfect for the beautiful seaside inspired papers from this collection.
The background was created using the beige side of the Postcards pp and framed with the blue side of the Beautiful pp.  I used various mixed media techniques to alter the background in blue and brown tones to tie in with the colours from the papers.

With various sized circular punches I punched out circles from a few of the other papers from the collection to frame my photo and also used a couple of the diecuts from the elements sheet.
The words on the Take Me Away pp were perfect for my title.  I just fussy cut around them and attached them with foam tape.  I even managed to tuck in an imagine flower in blueberry in amongst my layers.  The oatmeal and brown imagine flowers are also a perfect match for this collection.

MHC product used:  Thoughts Wandering Collection, Imagine blueberry flowers

Other product used:  Memory Box stencil- rings and puddles, Viva inka gold- aquamarine, gesso, Tim Holtz distress stains- broken china, faded jeans, Tim Holtz distress ink- tumbled glass,  Tim Holtz ideology metal embellishments, Archival ink - black, sepia, Prima stitched circles stamps, Bo Bunny mesh stamp, Kaisercraft edges stamp, metal charms, seaside stickers, jute twine, binder punch, mesh, sequins, machine stitching

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love.
