LO & Cards to Share - Scrapbook Expo

Hi Girls,

Thought I would share the LO I created for my Shabby Chic Class at the Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo in Brisbane.  The kit also had instructions to make three pretty cards.  A huge thank you to the lovely Nicole from Craft Queen for giving me the opportunity to tutor at the Show and for all your help and support.  I had a blast and met so many lovely ladies.. they were fantastic and made teaching the class a wonderful experience.

This was my 1st time around tutoring at the show and I have to admit I was so nervous on my 1st day.  Thank you so much to the ladies who were so kind and patient with me my 1st time around.   I ended up streamlining my class notes and days 2 and 3 went like a breeze.  I received such lovely feedback and was really excited to see how beautiful all the pages looked when they were completed... so many gorgeous photos to ooh and ahh over.  A big thank you to Deena who helped me get through my 1st day, and who took my class on the last day.. you were fantastic!!  A huge thank you to the gorgeous Karlene Fahey who  was my assistant on days 2 and 3.. you were fabulous and a great sounding board.  Thanks also to all the Scrapmatts team who were wonderfully supportive.. love you girls!!!

It was fabulous to finally meet Julie Winks, whose work I absolutely adore, all the Craft Queen girls and Julie Ousten who is such a sweetie.  I was able to meet so many gorgeous girls who I had previously only known online... one of them being Louise Nelson, who is also one of my idols and such a lovely person.  Who knows I might even get to do it all again next year!!!

You Are My Most Favourite Memory

This LO was created using some of Julie Ousten's new 8x8 Collections Elements papers and butterflies (one of my all time fav products), beautiful ribbons and embellishments from Craft Queen and some Kaisercraft and Prima pp's.  Lots of distressing, inking, layering and fussy cutting and a pretty little altered dress form to finish it off.

Extra Cards
Everything you needed to create three cards with full instructions were part of the class kit.

Card - Smile Celebrate This Life

Berry71Blue - In Full Bloom

Hi Girls,
Well it't my day to reveal my June project for Berry71Bleu using Marivic's gorgeous tag which you saw on my Blog Hop posting.  Check out Marivic's Etsy store HERE and don't forget:
Remember to keep an eye out for our challenge this month sponsored by Wycinanka.  Keep reading as we also have a challenge from our sister blog Zeus & Zoe.
In Full Bloom
I was inspired by the colours and the seed packet in Marivic's beautiful tag to create a LO with a Spring theme.  I kept it to blue and white tones for a fresh feel and mixed a few different styles of doilies which I layered to create my background then framed with some fussy cut flowers.  I highlighted the LO with a touches of silver here and there to tie in with the silver buttons on the tag and finished off with some gesso and paint splats.

List of Materials:  Berry71Bleu tag, Prima Sweet Fairy, LYB Twig pp's and pp from Marivic's kit, paper doily, Martha Stewart mini doilies, crochet doily, Martha Stewart corner punch, bling brads, my2angels rhinestone trim, Glitz Design alpha stickers, Pink Paislee chipboard alpha stickers, Grant Archival rubons, butterfly charm, gesso, paint, Inkessentials crackle accent
Zeus and Zoe our sister blog are having a challenge bought to you by the lovely Mitralee.  Here are the details.  Pop on over and check out the blog for some inspiration from our super-talented DT.

Zeus & Zoe Monthly Vintage Image Challenge: Mixed Media
When Marivic (proud owner of the Zeus & Zoe) asked me to post our first ever challenge, I thought I'd like to share this vintage image with you.  It appears to be a graphic from an Art Studio located long ago here in Potsdam, NY.  I thought it would help me set up a challenge that would be fun.

Our challenge for June 15th:  Create a project that includes Mixed Media. You can drag out your mists, glitter, paint, fabric, markers, inks and anything else to create something amazing. Please gather inspiration from this image when you are creating your project. You don't have to USE the image, but certainly can if that tickles your artistic spirit.

The Zeus & Zoe kits are designed to have many vintage elements and lovely new papers to inspire you. You don't have to use a kit from Zeus & Zoe to play along. Although it might help you to be inspired!  Here is a page/photo flip book I created to go along with this challenge.

This flower was designed by Irini who makes Get Creative Embellishments and she has graciously offered us two of her flower packages to offer as a prize!

For the second prize winner, you can win these brass and metal skeleton keys from Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop.

Our plan with our monthly challenges is to support other artists by promoting their hand made embellishments, so if you are interested, please let us know!

Quick word about rules:
1. You are allowed to make a card, layout or altered/off the page project as long as you follow the challenge specifications.

Meg's Garden - Just For You

Hi Girls,

This month at Meg's Garden we are still creating with the gorgeous Forget Me Not Collection.  Denise Ann has designed a 2nd collection of new papers that have been added to 1st range.  I used the Forget Me Not #1 collection to create an altered gift box and Forget Me Not #2 collection to create a matching card.  Click on the link to Meg's store HERE to see the new collection and all her other gorgeous goodies.

Altered Gift Box
I have had this little box in my stash for a while, waiting to be transformed.  The lovely thyme green colour of the box is a perfect match for the Forget Me Not collection.  I started with the square paper lace doilies and cut off each corner then layered some blue pp underneath to highlight the lacy pattern in the doilies.  The pretty flowers in this paper range cry out to be fussy cut, which of course I did, then added pearl centres for a bit of dimension.  The strips were cut to make contrasting borders, then I used the 1cm white lace trim to tie in with the lace doilies.  I painted a Tim Holtz lock with gesso and rubbed off the excess paint to give it a distressed look.

On the top of the box I fussy cut more flowers and added a ribbon bow in the light blue stripe, then topped the bow with some of the gorgeous new Dusty Attic flowers in blue and green.  The beautiful Australian Federation Corner chippies from Scrapmatts were the perfect addition to add a pretty touch to the box top, and then I finished off with a small manila tag which I stamped and tucked another little fussy cut flower under the greeting .  The tag was attached with a metal safety pin.

Materials Used - Meg's Garden:  Forget Me Not Collection, Dusty Attic Flowers -grassy knoll and smoky blue, Candy Grosgrain blue and white stripe ribbon, Paper Lace Doily - bond square, Lace - 1cm off white, Tim Holtz Locket Keys, Manila tag (packs of tags) Tim Holtz pin.

Other: Basic Grey pp,  Scrapmatts Aust Federation chipboard corners, Kaisercraft pearls, metal safety pin, Basic Grey lace stamp, Heidi Grace greeting stamp, Versamagic ink

Matching Card
The altered box came out so well that I decided to make a matching card.  I knew straight away that I would use the gorgeous LaBlanche wrought Iron Door stamp on my card.  I stamped it on some plain cardstock in blue to match the 6x6 Forget Me Not papers and cut around the door so that it would open up to show my stamped greeting.

I framed the card with the corners from the square doily, which I backed in blue pp to match the box and added some fussy cut elements from the 6x6 papers. The pretty rhinestone handles that I used for my door knobs were recycled from a necklace.  To tie in with the silver and bling on the door knobs I used a pretty silver butterfly charm and some tiny rhinestones to hang my stamped bird cage.

Materials Used - Meg's Garden:  Forget Me Not Collection #2, LaBlanche Wrought Iron Door stamp, Paper Lace Doily - bond square

Other: Basic Grey pp, Kaisercraft bling,  Grant Archival frame stamp, Heidi Grace greeting stamp, Pink Paislee bird cage stamp, Butterfly charm, Rhinestones, Versamagic ink,

Scrapmatts - All About Me

Hi Girls,

Well sadly the Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo is all over.  I had the most fabulous time, was able to catch up and meet so many gorgeous girls which I had previously only known online.  I'd like to thank all the ladies who took my Shabby Chic class, especially the ladies on my 1st day who were so kind and patient with me my 1st time around.  The 2nd and 3rd days went like a breeze and I was so excited and I have to admit a little relieved.  Had a lot of fun helping out in Angella Peardon's Scrapmatts class.. so many laughs and again all the ladies were so friendly.  I can't wait to find a bit of time to play with some of my new goodies... luckily for my bank balance I only found time to shop on the last day.

This month at Scrapmatts the theme is "All About Me"... which is a hard one for me as I find it difficult to scrap about myself.  I decided to create a few LO's with some very old photos of myself which I have been meaning to scrap for a while now, but they needed quite a bit of editing in Photoshop.  I'm so glad I scrapped them as they are so very precious to me and it's nice for the kids to see pics of me when I was a young girl... OMG so many years ago, I feel ancient!!

Sweet Memories
This is an old photo taken when I was around 6 years old.  I always remember my father cutting my hair so short and hated it.. lucky I'm wearing a dress otherwise you'd think I was a boy!!  I created this LO on the WP Retreat using the yummy new Prima Fairy Belle range.  Anne Patterson was a sweetie and let me use some of her gorgeous copper embossing powder which I used on the Ornate Frame, Large Word and Butterfly chipboard.  The Name Plate was inked with Versamagic inks in pink, with highlights of cream and brown.

List of Materials:  Prima Fairy Belle, Pink Paislee London Market pp's, Scrapmatts chipboard Ornate Frame 09, Assted Words 03 Butterflies 17, and Name Plates 01,  my2angels charming chain, crochet doily, gesso, Glimmermist coffee shop, copper embossing powder, Websters alpha stickers, Kindyglitz, Versamagic chalk inks

All About Me Canvas
All the Scrapmatts Team had to create a canvas about themselves which Sophie and Andrew displayed on a wall at the Papercraft Expo in Brisbane.  OMG they were all stunning and the wall looked amazing!!!  I used the Scrapmatts Ornate Frame which I painted, inked and coated with crackle medium, Butterflies which I inked, covered with glossy accents and diamond dust, Words which I inked, the Flowers were left raw and backed with pp and the Leaves and Floral Designs were inked.

List of Materials: Canvas, Scrapmatts chipboard butterflies 17 and 18, Ornate Frames 13, Floral Designs 03, Leaves 03, Flowers 03, Words 01, MME and Crate Paper pp's,  Fancy Pants rubons, cameo, pearl flower buttons, Kaisercraft bling, Pearl brad,  Inkessentials crackle medium and glossy accents, paint, Versamagic chalk inks, Diamond Dust

Mother
This is a very precious photo of me at 3 years of age and was taken as my mother and I were coming off the boat into Australia having immigrated from France.  This LO was created for last month's OUAS challenge.  I used the Scrapmatts Clock Faces which I left raw (white mist), the chipboard word was inked and clear embossed and I inked the Leaf Spray chippies in turquoise with a touch of brown and the Leaves chippies were left raw (white mist).

List of Materials:  Prima, Kaisercraft, Bo Bunny, TPC Studio pp's, Prima flowers and butterfly, Scrapmatts Clock Faces 01, Leaves 02, Leaf Spray 01 and Mother 01 chipboard, Martha Stewart border punch, Kaisercraft Pearls, metal clock charm, recycled filigree flower, Bella brad, Prima rubons, shipping tag, lace, twine, Tim Holtz distress inks, Versamagic inks, clear embossing powder.

Love You to Pieces
Another LO created at the WP Retreat which was one of the set challenges.  Love how this pic of Brittany came out in a recent photo shoot.  I used Hearts 01 and 05 which I left raw (white mist) and inked the Micro Chips 17 little filigree hearts in copper and adhered them over the top of the plain hearts to add some dimension.

List of Materials:  Daisy D's, Websters, Simple Stories and TPC Studio pp's, book paper, Scrapmatts chipboard hearts and micro hearts, Craft Queen jute twine, wooden button and butterfly, ribbon roses, mulberry leaves, paint, Glimmermist suede, Tim Holtz distress ink, Brilliance ink

Be Free
Created this quick card at the WP Retreat with a gorgeous girl grunge stamp from Stampotique, which the lovely Karlene Fahey was kind enough to let me use.  I sprayed the Scrapmatts Butterfly wings with glimmermist and coated with glossy medium.
List of Materials:  White cardstock, Basic Grey and The Scrapcake pp's, book paper, Stampotique stamp, Scrapmatts Butterflies 18 chipboard, ribbon, Martha Stewart pansy border punch, Tim Holtz distress ink, Glimmermist turquoise, Inkessentials glossy medium

Thanks so much for stopping by.
