Color Stories Inspiration #128

Hi Everyone,

I have this week's new case file #128 for Color Stories Inspiration to share with you today.

Blue Skies
There's a soft and dreamy pastel colour palette in shades of mauve, green and blue to inspire you on this case file.  As well as the beautiful colour palette, I was inspired by the inspo word "blue" from the testimony for this LO and have journaled my thoughts on the back of my LO.

When I'm feeling a little down, I know I can go outside, find a quiet spot and take in my surroundings.  I always find something that will take my mind from my unhappy thoughts, be it a flower, a pretty little butterfly fluttering by, or the multitude of birds that flock to our 50 year old tree - but the sight that will instantly lift my spirits is a beautiful blue sky.  I don't know what it is, but there is something so joyful about seeing all that gorgeous expanse of blue - they do say the colour blue is calming, maybe that's it.

Evidence:  flowers, pearls, distressing, doily frame, punches
Testimony:  inspo word "blue" journaling on back of LO.

Aren't these french lace flowers from Manor House Creations just gorgeous!!
The country roses are a firm favourite.

I have cut the pretty new felt doilies into 2 pieces to use in my small and large clusters.

Manor House Creations DT - True Beauty

Hi everyone, I have a LO to share created for Manor House Creations, which was inspired by the gorgeous indigo flower from the Layout Pack - Fabulous.

True Beauty Lies Within

I was playing around with flowers from my MHC stash and loved the contrast of the jade green vinette with the large indigo flower.  I created some flower clusters with these 2 vibrant flowers and softened them with a few white minuette blossoms and the blue and white Ashlee flower to blend in with my mixed media background.
I pulled apart one of the indigo flowers to create 2 flowers for my smaller side clusters and added some recycled bling jewellery to my flower centres.

To tie in with my diecut background I cut the ends off an oval cheval frame and tucked them under my photo.
MHC Product:  LO Pack-Fabulous, Vinette-jade, Solitude, Minuettes-pack, Ashlee-white,
Ornate cheval frame.

Other Product used:  Basic Grey pp's, Melissa Frances embossing folder, Kaisercraft butterfly stencil and lace stamp,  Prima rubons, Silhouette Cameo diecut background, modelling paste, Luminarte pigment powder-fern, Glimmermist-kiwi, Ek Success border punch, jade microbeads, recycled jewellery.

Finalist Entry Kaisercraft DT 2014/15

Hi Everyone,
As some of you may know, I applied for the Kaisercraft 2014/15 Design Team and was thrilled to find out that I had been selected as a Finalist for round 2... omg so nervous!!

For the 2nd round I was sent 2 fabulous up coming collections that have not yet been released, to create my projects with. So that means you get to see some sneaky peeks. When I opened my parcel, I found so much paper to play with, that I decided to create 2 LO's, 2 Cards and 2 Tags with each range.  If I hadn't had the Scrapbook and Papercaft Expo on the long weekend I probably would have created more.  So be prepared for a lengthy post showcasing these gorgeous collections!!

North Pole Collection Projects
The 1st collection is a beautiful Christmas range with a gorgeous red, white, aqua and black colour palette called North Pole.  This collection has papers that can also be used in non-Christmas LO's for either masculine or feminine projects.

Layout - Merry Christmas

For my 1st LO I have gone with a Christmas theme.  I couldn't resist pulling out my scissors to fussy cut the yummy doily paper to layer around my photo.  You will probably notice that I can't go without using some form of mixed media on my creations.  Kaisercraft has a great range of templates and stamps which I am totally addicted to, so I have used them to create backgrounds on all of my LO's.  Here I have used the diamond template and diamonds texture stamp to co-ordinate with the patterns in the paper.

Kaiser Products Used:  North Pole Collection, diamond template, wood flourishes - berry vine and fancy borders, sea breeze sparklets, aqua marine rhinestones, snow and blue ice paper flowers, St Nicholas stamp set, diamonds texture stamp

Layout - Love

For my 2nd LO I chose to create a feminine page with the pretty heart paper as the focus and some of the heart and love accent stickers. Another mixed media background, this time using the gorgeous damask template.

Kaiser Products Used:  North Pole Collection, damask template, berry vine wood flourish, True Romance stamp set, script texture stamp, fire red mini paper blooms and paper blooms, black and white tape set

Card - Merry Christmas
Kaiser Products Used:  North Pole Collection, coconut mini paper blooms, snow paper flowers, sea breeze sparklets, aqua marine rhinestones

Card - Deck the Halls
Kaiser Products Used:  North Pole Collection, fire red mini paper blooms and coconut paper blooms, aqua marine rhinestones

2 x Christmas Tags
Kaiser Products Used:  North Pole Collection, sea breeze and ebony sparklets, silver rhinestones

Teddy Bears Picnic Collection Projects
The 2nd collection is an adorable range called Teddy Bear's Picnic.  It has a lovely vintage/shabby feel to it and is very versatile, as it can be used in masculine or feminine projects, so I thought I would create one of each.

Layout - Treasured Memories

One of the few nice photos of I have of my son Luke as a baby, which lucky for me went beautifully with these papers.  He even has a little koala bear on his shirt!

Kaiser Product:  Teddy Bear's Picnic Collection, chevron template, cherish and hessian texture stamps, cream lace

Layout - Precious

As I mentioned I don't have very many decent pics of my son and daughter when they were younger, so I decided to scrap this cute pic of my adorable nieces.

Kaiser Product:  Teddy Bear's Picnic Collection, butterfly template, cherish and lattice texture stamps, hanging plaque wooden flourish, fairy floss paper blooms, baby blue and ivory paper flowers, honey mini paper blooms, rubons precious words

Card - Beary Best Friends
Kaiser Product:  Teddy Bear's Picnic Collection, iceberg mini paper blooms, baby blue paper flowers

Card Cherish for Always

2 x Teddy Bear Tags

Kaiser Product:  Teddy Bear's Picnic Collection, blue ice paper flowers, baby blue mini paper blooms

I just had a little lookie loo at some of the Finalist's entries and am totally blown away with the talent.  Wishing everyone the best of luck and keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!

Thanks so much for stopping by a huge thank you to everyone who left such lovely and encouraging comments on my blog and facebook posts.

Color Stories Inspiration - 365 #6

Hi Everyone,

I have special Case File No. 6 challenge from Color Stories Inspiration, which is a collaboration with Scrap365  UK's biggest and best scrapbooking magazine to share with you.

This special Case File will be open for investigation for the entire month of June. We will have a new Scrap365 Case File every other month, with the publication of a new issue of the magazine. After this Case File closes, we will be selecting our five favorite layouts to feature, and those people will be invited as CSI Deputies (guest designers) for August.

The Next Chapter In Our Lives
As soon as I saw the lovely colour palette on this case file, I thought of my daughter Brittany at her close friends Jai and Laura's Year 12 Formal, which was the inspiration for my Testimony (write a 6-word memoir)  -  "The Next Chapter in our Lives" .

I know your children can't stay your babies forever, but seeing them all grown up really pulls on the heartstrings.  Once they have finished school, you know it is only a matter of time before they leave the nest and find their own way through life, and I don't know if I'll ever be ready to let them go.

Evidence:
ribbons/bows - jute bow on hidden journaling tag
flowers
frames - frame made with berry spray
texture paste - stencilled script design
labels - journal spot
Testimony:
Write a 6-word memoir - I have used the words "The Next Chapter in Our Lives"  which sums up Brittany and her friends ending of their school life and the beginning of their lives as adults.

Product Used:  Bo Bunny, LYB, Prima and Pion Designs pp, Kaisercraft collectables, Silhouette wreath diecut, Prima flowers, gesso, texture paste, Luminarte pigment powder-fuzzy peach, Crafters Workshop script stencil, Glimmermist-sapphire, The Trinket Track catseye heart cabochon and pearl embellishments, tag, jute twine, berry spray,  Websters and Authentique alpha stickers

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Cardabilities Sketch #99

Hi everyone, Cathy here with a few cards to share using product from the new Winter 2014 Collection from Manor House Creations.

Keep Smiling
Manor House has some gorgeous new Feature Frames in this collection and on this card I have used the Noveau white feature frame as my background, which I altered by misting in pink to blend in with the fussy cut roses cut from the Beautiful You paper range.  I have pulled apart a tea rose into 2 sections to create a flat bloom which can be tucked into your layers and then a little rosebud which I used to top my ribbon bow
MHC Product:  Beautiful You-So You, Fresh and New, Feature Frame - noveau white, tea rose cream
Other Product:  Kaisercraft collectables, Lindy's Stamp Gang mist, pearl centre, satin seam binding

You Make Me Smile
The Thoughts Wandering range of papers has lovely blue tones which I have used as the background for this card.  The Beautiful pp was embossed and I distressed the edges of the Sail Away pp, then randomly brushed over with gesso,  a few flicks of glimmer mist.
One of the new Ornate Frames - elegance black was the base for my layered centre embellishment.  Wooden embellishments are very popular at the moment and Manor House has a range of cute wood elements as part of the Winter Collection.  I have used the wood elements - stamp which I altered to tie in with my colour scheme.  The Thoughts Wandering range has a coordinating diecuts elements sheet.  The cute banner was used in amongst my layers.  To finish off I used a few of the country roses in azure and softened them with a little distressed muslin.

MHC Product:  Thoughts Wandering - Beautiful, Sail Away and Elements diecuts, Ornate Frame-elegance black, Country Roses-azure Wood Elements-stamp,
Other Product:  Kaisercraft collectables, Melissa Frances embossing folder, muslin, gesso, glimmer mist sapphire
