Get Picky

Noticed this new Get Picky challenge site and thought I would have a go.  This was my take on the sketch.  I just took these pics of Luke and of course he was making silly faces, but I managed to get a few good ones of him smiling.  He's 17  now,  I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by.

Used Rose Moka, Prima, Bo Bunny and BG pp's, some knotted Green Tara twine, machine stitching and of course a splash of paint always looks good on a teen boy LO.

Made My Day

I thought I would share these cute little creations with made by my sweet little neighbours next door.  We have such lovely new neighbours with 2 gorgeous girls who are very arty crafty.  I have been sorting through my scrap stash and having a big cleanout, so I decided to pass on a big bag of bits and pieces.  The girls were in heaven going through the bag.  Yesterday I found these two adorable little Thank You cards in my mailbox... just made my day!!

Just a Quick One

Scrap The Boys - 15 Oct

Trying to get in a few more LO's before the end of the month.  The criteria for STB's for this challenge was to use fabric.

This was a quickie with some layered pp's from Daisy D's, Pink Paislee & Rusty Pickle.  I went through my patchwork stash and found this lovely Autumn toned fabric which I thought would go well with my pic of Luke.  You can't see it really well in this pic but I misted with Java and gold around the leaves and it looks lovely and shimmery.  The fabric was backed with Jac paper and scrunched up for some texture and I added some knotted silk ribbon.

What's In a Name?

Scrap The Girls

This month's Scrap The Girls challenge your LO was to be inspired by Shakespeare's verse "What's in a name? That which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet."
and….     **Extra criteria - flowers & buttons**

I created a LO about how hubby and I chose Brittany's name.  We couldn't agree on a name for her when I was pregnant.  I came across the name Brittany and decided it would be perfect as that is the part of France my mother's family originated from and it would be a reminder of her heritage.  It was meant to be as Yves actually liked my choice, and I was relieved we found a name we both liked.

Used some of the new Websters papers... so soft and pretty.                             The background is an old BG pp with a stamped border.  Finished off with a smattering of buttons to fill the criteria.

Stuck Sketches - 1 November

I haven't done a Stuck sketch for a while, so I thought I would have a go as this was a quick one for me.... very unusual.  I knew what I wanted straight away.  The red black and white colour combo is one of my favs and I had just taken this pic of Brittany yesterday as I had noticed this beautiful South African Tulip Tree with the most magnificent blossoms and had to drag Brittany up the street for a photo shoot.  She wasn't impressed!!!

Pulled out an old Bo Bunny pp for the background and some scraps for the squares.  I stamped on acetate for the corner flourishes, a splash of red paint, some MS butterflies and a Prima felt stem and embossing for a bit of texture.

Published

So excited to get this month's Scrapbooking Memories mag as my LO was published.  I really liked this particular LO as Brittany... loved the using the paint for the background.  Even though she tried not to show it  I think she was just as thrilled as me!!

More Exciting News!!

I can now share some exciting news which I have been bursting to tell.  I was invited to be on the White With 1 Creative Team.  I was over the moon when I received the news as I am a big fan of the WW1 Challenge site and am glad they are back starting November.  Over the next week will be the reveal of all the girls on the Creative Team.... the talent on the team is amazing and I can't wait to see their creations.  They have some fabulous sponsors with prizes from Scrapboutique, Pretty Petals, Scrap Therapy, Scrapbook Divas and Scrap addix.  Hop on over and take a look... WW1

The Colour Room #28

This weeks palette was a very eye-catching colour combo.  I just love the contrast of these colours and I know many of you don't like purple, but I love colours that pack a punch.  Decided to mask my background in purple to tie in the the lacy effect of the doilies and lace then painted over in yellow. I embossed the white CS for a bit more texture and used another new Martha Stewart punch called iron fence and of course a couple of MS butterflies... one of my favs.  Stamped the quote and flourish on acetate then finished of with a bit of bling.

Wherever You Go

1,2,3 October Challenge

This month's 1,2,3 challenge was:

Word:  GO

Colour:  Green

Technique:  Hand Cut Title

Decided to use one of my fav photos of Brittany looking pensive as the title I came up with was  "Wherever you go GO with all your heart".  Used some green toned pp's from Crate, BG & Websters + a book page, some lace and gorgeous Prima centres for a bit of bling.  I also made a little border on top of LO with the sweetest Martha Stewart birdie punch I just received in the mail this week... love it!!

KIU - Oct Challenge

This month's challenge at KIU was to use a sketch as inspiration, and here is what I came up with.  Sweet pics of Brittany and Ruby on on holidays at Christmas just chillin.  Used OA pp's and MM journal sheet a bit of glimmer mist and some twine and of course a little punched border strip and butterflies... just love my punches.

Your Smile is Like Sunshine

Challenge Heaven - Word Challenge

This month's word challenge at Challenge Heaven was to use the word "Smile" in your title. You also had to use black c/s as your base. Took some lovely pics of Brittany recently and she was actually smiling in a few of them... very rare occurrence these days. I think she looks so gorgeous when she smiles.

Used some old Glitz Design, CI and Basic pp's. The frame around the photo is a Daisy D rubon and I used the Martha Stewart doily punch for the ruffled border and also MS butterfly punches. Added a few pink blossoms for a bit more dimension.

Challenge Heaven - Colour Challenge

This month's colour challenge was Blue, White and Black and you also had to use flowers on your LO. Another pic of Brittany... without the smile but still lovely. I used Teresa Collins & CI pp's and a book page, some lace doilies & a felt frame from Bella. The title and verse are Daisy D's rubons. I just received these gorgeous flowers in the mail and thought they would be perfect on this LO as they are so soft and pretty. I blinged them up with Prima flower centres for a bit of sparkle.

You Drive Me Crazy

Scrap The Boys - Oct. Chall 1

This month's STB's challenge is themed Trick OR Treat.  I chose trick for my LO of Luke.  He is always plays around when I get the camera out.   Just when I think I have a great shot he does something silly.... I always end up laughing and take the shot anyway.

Used some old Basic Grey Recess and Prima pp's and just got a new Tim Holtz stamp set, so I had to use it straight away... just love his gear... great for the grunge look.  I also used a Tim Holtz brick embossing folder on the black cardstock.  I finally got around to using a cute Martha Stewart button punch... a black background and a touch of ink and I had a fab little button.

In The Blink of an Eye

The Colour Room # 26

Have missed the last few palettes at The Colour Room, so it's nice to get back into it.  I just love this colour palette... one of my absolute fave combinations.  This is a rare photo of Brittany all dressed up for her cousin's 21st.  The reason it's rare is she is still such a tomboy at almost 15.  My sweet little girl is all grown up and it happened so fast!!

Used some Basic Grey and LYB pp's.  Prima flowers, pearls and a gorgeous Prima Butterfly, Daisy D's rubons and a Rhonna Farrer border stamp.

1st School Photo

This LO was a quick one that I put together while I was getting the Scrap The Girls LO done.  I couldn't decide what I wanted as the theme was "First".  I had picked out this photo of Brittany's first school photo, then I changed my mind as I didn't want to use a white cs background which was also a criteria for the challenge.

This range of papers from My Minds Eye called Lost and Found are absolutely gorgeous.  Of course I couldn't help myself and purchased quite a few of them.

First Day of Spring

Scrap the Girls

This was definitely a last minute entry, so I didn't really spend as much time as I wanted on this one.

The criteria was the word First and you had to have a white background.  This is a pic of Brittany I took on the first day of Spring.  Our neighbour has the most beautiful Azalea bushes, so after a little prodding I managed to get her outside for a photo shoot.

I masked my white cardstock with some glimmer mist and butterflies.  The white flower was from a length of ribbon roses I purchased overseas which are absolutely stunning.  I added a few pink blossoms and some K&Co Grand Adhesions and finished off with one of my New deep cut Martha Stewart Punches for the lacy strip.
