Dusty Attic July Mood Board Challenge - Nature's Beauty

Hi Everyone,
Today I am sharing my take on this month's Mood Board/Sketch Challenge at Dusty Attic.

Why not enter for your chance to win a $100 Prize Voucher from The Dusty Attic website.  You can use the Mood Board or sketch for inspiration or if you're feeling adventurous, why not use both!! All you need to do is add Dusty Attic chipboard to your creation and link up to the Blog Site on the top right hand side.
How gorgeous is the colour palette in this month's Mood Board... the contrast of the teal, orange and white is divine!!

'Nature's Beauty'
My son recently went to Japan and one of the highlights of his trip, was a visit to a fox sanctuary, so as soon as I saw the orange from the colour palette it made me think of this beautiful photo he snapped of the red fox all curled up in the brilliant white snow.

To create my background, I used the recent release Gradient Stencil and Dusty Attic Texture Paste, then misted over with a mix of 2 Lindy's Starburst Mists and once dry, stamped over with a crackle background stamp in teal ink.
The Vine Corner #2 chipboard was cut into sections, painted with Capri Dusty in Colour, then coated with seafoam Liquid Pearls and whilst wet sprinkled with teal microbeads.  Once dry, I lightly swiped over with gesso to create the effect of a light dusting of snow.

To draw the eye to the gorgeous photo, I decided to frame it with the Large Crazy Stitching chipboard, which I coated with Viva Inka Gold in Copper.

To create my title I used the Mini ABC Script and Words #2 chipboard, which I coated first with gesso, then with white Liquid Pearls.

Dusty Attic DT Layout - Recent Release Chipboard & Stencil Designs

Hi Everyone,

Today I am sharing a layout created with some of the recently released Dusty Attic Chipboard and Stencil Designs.

'Love These Photos'
You would probably have guessed by now, that I love to create my layouts by using mixed media and stencils on my backgrounds, so I was thrilled when I received all the new Dusty Attic stencil designs in my parcel!!  I decided to use the new Leaves #3 Stencil and Dusty Attic Texture Paste, to create a diagonal flow across the page, which I misted with a mix of Lindy's Tibetan Poppy Teal and Shabby Turbine Teal, then randomly stamped over with Ranger Archival Hydrangea ink and a Kaisercraft Texture Stamp.
I was inspired by the beautiful Floral Layers and Rope Banner chippies for this layout... love that you can layer them to create dimension!! I thought the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios Scents of Nature pp was a perfect match for them.

To alter the chipboard, I used Inka Gold and DecoArt Metallic Lustre texture pastes, by coating with one colour and highlighting the edges with another to create depth.  I love texture, so I applied microbeads using Dusty in Colour Clear Gloss Medium to my flower centres and flower buds as well as randomly applying them to the leaves.  To add softness and a bit more depth I very lightly sponged over the chipboard pieces with gesso, then stamped over the flowers with the Texture Stamp.

The Rope Banner chipboard was cut apart to use as a smaller side flourish which I altered the same way as the Floral Layers chipboard.  I cut the ends of the rope banners and altered them with Hydrangea Inka Gold to tuck under my main floral cluster, keeping the leftover pieces to use on another layout.

The String Frames chipboard are one of my favourite frames!!  I used the largest one from the  String Frames Small to accentuate my photos.  The frame was altered with Mint Green Inka Gold and highlights of Brilliant Turquoise Metallic Lustre, and a smattering of green microbeads.
Lastly, I finished off my layout with one of the new chipboard titles "Love These Photos", which I again altered with metallic pastes, lightly sponging with gesso and randomly applying mauve microbeads.
