Bird Is the Word - Imagine

Decided to have a go at the Bird Is The Word challenge this month, which was to use the word IMAGINE.. my 1st time here!!
Love the idea of being able to create a page around a word. I found this lovely quote to use which reads " If a butterfly can flap its wings a thousand time a minute to reach its destination IMAGINE what you can do! ". Thought it would be perfect as I just love butterflies and I was able to use some of the new Prima Madeline range which has these pretty blue butterflies which I hand cut.
I have always been meaning to get around to doing a patchwork type of page and with the Prima pp already in squares it was so simple. I just picked out all the blue squares and distressed the edges.. so quick, which is a rarity for me!!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave some love :)

Show Us Your Stuff March Sketch

2 Gifts

2 Gifts

Here is the LO I created for the sketch challenge at SUYS this month. The challenge was to use the sketch, have a number in your title and a handmade item of course.

I have been itching to use my new Bo Bunny butterfly pp's... right up my alley.. I love butterflies!! Used pretty much all Bo Bunny except for the background which was some old MME. My title is 2 Gifts and the quote is "There are 2 lasting gifts we give our children. One is roots, the other is wings."

I made a flower from some teal satin as my handmade item and used it as the centre piece of my flower cluster. Added some texture with a hessian strip, lace and some hand stitching with jute.

The yummy lamp post and flourish chippies are from Scrapmatts. I inked them and went over them with some gloss.

Meeting Sofie, Andew and Angela

I went to the Craft Expo on Friday and got to meet the gorgeous Sofie & Andrew Rossides who are the owners of Scrapmatts and also the amazingly talented Angela Peardon who is on the DT for Scrapmatts. It was so nice to meet them in person and they were the lovliest people. Sofie insisted I have a photo taken with herself and Angela.. poor Andrew had to take a few as I kept mucking up the photos. Of course while I was there I had to make some purchases of their yummy chipboard products which I have used on my LO. Pop on over an check out their site if you're a chippie fan you won't be disappointed. Sofie has the most amazing talent on her DT, so check out the gallery while you're there... absolutely gorgeous creations to inspire you!!

Prima March Palette

Let Your Light Shine

Decided to have a go at the Prima Palette this month. I have never taken part in a Prima challenge before and thought this monochromatic green colour combo would be a great challenge to push me out of my comfort zone. I quite like the end result.

Used pretty much all Prima, some new and some quite old. The non Prima items were the Kaiser lamp post embellie, the Websters ribbon roses and the hand cut border on the bottom is from Basic Grey Curio.

Sometimes it looks like I am using the same pics but they are all slightly different as I always take so many photos when Brittany allows me to traipse her about for a photo shoot, as it's getting more difficult to get her to let me take photos.. I have to literally beg. Not sure what I will do when she stops altogether!!!

End of the Month is Almost Upon Us!!

It's almost the end of the month... but you still have time to get your challenges in for:

Scrap The Boys - March

31 - 10 -09

Scrap the Boys is back and the challenge for this month is:

* FREEZE A MOMENT IN TIME *

The challenge is to use a specific TIME as your layout's title.

- Capture a moment in your day that you want to remember, part of your daily routine or something special the kids or hubby has on, or a specific day or moment that you want to remember. You then need to use that time/date as your layout title.

I decided to choose 31/10/09 "Halloween" as my title as I just love this pic of Luke getting into character for Halloween.

Used some BG and Pink Paislee pp's & embellishments and kept it fairly simple so that the focus was on the photo.

Just a Little Toot!

Was happy to find that my LO for Let's Get Shabby received an Honourable mention. This was my 1st time participating here and I really enjoyed the Denim and Lace Challenge. Thanks girls, you made my day!!

A New Exciting Challenge Site!!

The lovely talented Nadia Cannizzo has decided to start up a new Challenge blog called "Once Upon a Sketch" with Irma Peredne and Lou Dalhstrom.

So what are they all about???

The main aim here is to get people journalling...telling their story. It seems as though people are not journalling on their pages as much as they used to. I have to say I am guilty of that too...A lot of us these days tend to go for more pretty or artistic pages and forget the journalling, which is probably the reason we all started scrapbooking.

How will this work?

Twice a month, we will provide you with a sketch as inspiration and ask that the only other requirement will be to add some journalling on your pages...or cards..Yes ...this is also for cardmakers..you can adjust the sketch and make a card from it...and try to add some journalling somewhere. Also beside traditional layout scrappers and card makers, artists that do art journals, and/or altered art are also welcome. Only requirement is that you use the sketch AND add some journaling.

All of the winners will be picked by out Design Team and you will have the chance to be a Guest Designer or to win a prize as well.

And there is a fab giveaway to be won to get things started.
If you want to win this pop on over to Once Upon a Sketch and get the details:

The Colour Room is celebrating it's 50th Colour Palette with a blog hop!! Pop on over and check out the site to start the blog hop and have a chance to win a fabulous prize!! Be prepared to see some amazing talent and stunning creations.

Here is my take on this weeks palette in monochromatic blues. Went through my stash and came up with some old BG & MME pp's, then decided to create some texture with gesso, scrunched fabric, lace, pearl embroidery cotton, buttons & a fab trim from Bo Bunny.

I stamped over the gesso with a Kaiser script stamp. I also used a Kaiser stamp for the leaves on my flower cluster. A few butterflies with one of my fav punches from Martha Stewart to add a little softness. Wasn't sure about this LO when I started, but I really liked how it came out in the end.

Stuck Sketches - 1 Mar

Catch Me If You Can

Haven't a lot to show at the moment as my last few LO's have been for DT commitments, but I managed this sketch challenge for Stuck Sketches today. Stayed true to the sketch so that it was a nice quick one.

I have recently become friends with Melissa O'Neill and she visits every so often so we can have a scrap day. Not long after they arrive Mel's gorgeous son Nate starts to ask when the kids will get home from school, and this goes on throughout the day. He gets so excited when they come home and absolutely adores playing with Brittany and following Luke around. Mel grabbed my camera when Brittany and Nate were playing chasey and the pics were so cute I just had to scrap them.

Used the new Echo "Park for the record"... love this range, and mixed it up with some MME and Fancy Pants pp's. Just a touch of machine stitching and a couple of rolled flowers on my cluster as you all know I LOVE flowers and all done.

WOO HOO - Blog Hop Win!!!

So excited to read this morning that I had won a prize from Scrapmatts for participating in their blog hop.. thanks so much Sofia, can't wait to receive my goodies. Totally enjoyed the hop.. the DT creations are out of this world!! Go and check out the site for some amazing inspiration and while you're there you can drool over their gorgeous chippies!!

123 March Challenge

PAY IT FORWARD

I know there has been a few of these goining around but I have responded to a PIF from Anita Stokes and am now passing this on in the hopes of having 5 people respond. Such a lovely way to pass on a RAK.

Pay it forward for creative people: I promise to send something handmade to the first five people who leave a comment on this post specifying they would like to take part. They must in turn, promise to post this and send something they made to the first five people to reply. It must be sent sometime in 2011. Mix tape, postcard, jewellery, sewing...it all counts.

I already have an idea of the yummy goodies I will send.. so leave a message in the comments for me if you would like a parcel of goodies :)

Just Too Beautiful for Words

This months at 1,2,3 Challenge was:

Colour: Light/Medium Blue
Word: To/Too/Two (you choose which one)
Technique/Product/Theme Idea: Doilies

Thought I would have another try at using gesso on this LO and this time it shows up really well on the Donna Salazar pp. The theme was doilies and I have used a paper doily and inked the edges and I thought the lacy border on the Kaiser had a look of a doily and was the perfect colour. The photo background paper is the new Prima Madeline.. so pretty.

You've probably noticed I have been using quite a few Prima flowers on my LO's lately. I have so many in my stash and I really need to use them, so I don't feel too bad if I purchase some of the new CHA stock!! and the chipboard on the flower cluster is from Scrapmatts.. love this one.

Yippee another win!!

I received a comment on my blog from the lovely Chantel to let me know my LO had been chosen for the Feb ROTM Challenge over at Bon's Scraps... so excited to win a voucher... woo hoo more shopping!! Pop on over an check them out as they have quite a few monthly challenges to choose from.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love... really makes my day :)

Scrap The Girls

She Has This Way of Brightening Your Day

This was the quote I used from Scrap The Girls challenge this month, which was to use a quote from Kobi Yamanda "She". Go and check it out as there were so many beautiful quotes and of course the gorgeous creations from the DT to inspire you.

ADORE this recent pic of Brittany as she is smiling!! She has the most beautiful smile, but it is very hard to capture in photos as she doesn't like pics of herself when she smiles.

Used beautiful bright pp's from Sass Lass and Kaisercraft with some yummy Prima flowers. The gorgeous chipboard is from Scrapmatts and the cute owl button is from Sam at Purple Pumpkin. I have had these Hambly frame overlays for ages... when I came across them I just had to use them on this LO and of course couldn't go past using some MS punches.

Yippee - Exciting News

Just received an email from Scrapbooking Memories Magazine that they accepted 2 of my LO's... so excited. I also have other very exciting news, but won't be able to share it just yet.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love :)

Bons Room of the Month

Thank You

I just wanted to take the time to thank all you gorgeous girls for the beautiful comments you leave on my blog. I really appreciate you all taking the time to leave them for me to read, they make my day that much brighter... every one of them is like a little boost of confidence, so again a huge thank you... sending you all a big squeezy hug :)

Life is Beautiful.. Live It

Had to do this month's ROTM over at Bon's as the room had such gorgeous girly colours and it gave me a chance to use some of the New Prima pp's which are so yummy!!

Tried not to go too over the top with the papers and held back a bit. This beautiful range of Prima is "Madeline". I hand cut the flower cluster and added some MS fan punches and used the wrought iron around the photo. Thought I would add some gesso to the background and then stamped some butterflies over the top... it doesn't really show up very well in the photos but it looks pretty! A few Prima rubons and MME alpha rubons for the title and of course had to add my paint splatters. It just didn't look right without them!

Sneaky Peak

Here is a sneak of an upcoming LO for next month.

Denim & Lace - LGS

Simply Perfect in Every Way

This is my 1st ever challenge for Let's Get Shabby. Have been checking out this site for a while now and always mean to get around to having a go. I missed out last months as I didn't realise your entries need to be in by the 20th of the month, so when I saw the denim and lace challenge I made sure I would get this one in on time.

Had a lot of fun with this challenge. Brittany was very accommodating and let me take quite a few pics. I had a few where she is wearing jeans but this close up was too gorgeous to go past and I had to use it. Found an old pair of jeans and started chopping away. I used a circle of denim on the title embellishment and you can't see it very well, but I pleated the denim around the larger circle and overlayed it with some cerise lace. There is also a bit of denim on the layered doily embellishments.

Hand cut an old K&Co pp and some new Prima for the flowers and butterflies. The other pp's are new MME Stella Rose, Prima Madeline, Crate Paper & Jenni Bowlin. The gorgeous flourish was painted with a navy shimmer paint and is from Scrap FX. I stamped around the background with a little lace border stamp from the new MME Stella Rose collection and finished off with a few buttons and brads and of course a some splashes of glimmer mist in scarlet.

WOO HOO - Exciting News

I have had 2 of my LO's chosen for challenges last month. One for the Get Picky sketch challenge and one for Scrap the Girls. The prize from Get Picky is a gorgeous Pink Paislee pack and STG's was a kit/voucher from Scrapbooking from Scratch. So very excited and can't wait to get my goodies... thanks so much girls!!
