July DT Reveal with Kaisercraft

Hi everyone Cathy here,
I’m so happy to be back on the Kaisercraft Design Team for another year!!  It’s a dream job being able to play with all their fabulous products and gorgeous paper ranges, and I hope to be able to inspire you with my upcoming creations.
Today I am sharing my Kaisercraft DT reveal showcasing the 3 beautiful new Collections for this month!!

Botanica Collection
First up is the gorgeous “Botanica” Collection, which as the names suggests has a beautiful botanical theme full of greenery and flowers in shades of green, brown, creamy white with a hint of lavender.
If you have seen my creations, you will have probably noticed that I love taking photos of my daughter in amongst flowers or greenery, and one of my recent pics just happened to go beautifully with the Botanica range.

“All Things Grow Better With Love” Layout

The background for my LO was created by using the reverse of the “Seed” pp which is patterned in a lovely script writing.  I masked the paper with Derivan light modelling paste using the Damask Quarters Template diagonally across the paper and once dry, misted over the top with Antique Gold Kaisermist applied with a brush, then flicked the Denim Kaisermist randomly around the masked area.
As soon as I saw this collection, I knew I would be pulling out my trusty scissors for some serious fussy cutting!  I was immediately drawn to the leafy branches and blossoms on the “Pollen” pp and went to work with my scissors to create a wreath to surround my photo, and I love how it came out!  I also fussy cut a few smaller blossoms to tuck in amongst my cluster. To tie in with the wreath and add a little texture I cut my photo in a circle and used natural string to frame my photo.

Kaiser Product: Botanica - Paper – P1872 Plant, P1874 Pollen, P1875 Seed, P1877 Stem | CT831 Collectables | T621 Template – Damask Quarters | Kaisermist – KM102 Antique Gold, KM106 Denim | DD504 Decorative Die – Doilies |  EF214 Embossing Folder – Leaves | T331 Sanding Block | EM406 String Natural | T303 Foam Tape | Other Product:  DM-1MM2M32 Derivan Matisse Light Modelling Paste

“Live Laugh Love” Layout

For my 2nd LO, I cut a square section from the “Plant” pp, which  I scrunched, punched and distressed, then adhered centrally to the beautiful weatherboard “Leaf” pp.  I overlayed this with a piece cut from the reverse side of “Stem” pp which I punched and inked in bark to create a frame for my photo.
Bot LO2 cl1
I love mixing my mists to create different colours, so I made an olive mist to match my papers by blending the Lime Kaisermist with a touch of Antique Gold Kaisermist.  I applied the mist by soaking up onto a wet ones and lightly dabbing over my background, then stamped in random areas with the pretty “Flutter” texture stamp.
I did say this range was calling out to be fussy cut!!! ...  so for this LO I fussy cut the delicate flower stalks from the “Air” pp… very fiddly, but a great way to add dimension to your pages and well worth the effort!!   I finished off by flicking the olive mist over my LO, making sure to cover my photo in the process.
Tip:  If you don’t have the right colour mist for your project, try mixing some of your existing colours.

Kaiser Product: Botanica - Paper – P1872 Plant, P1873 Leaf, P1877 Stem, P1878 Air | CT831 Collectables | Kaisermist – KM102 Antique Gold, KM104 Lime | CS853 Texture Stamp – Flutter | T331 Sanding Block | IP724 Ink – Bark | T303 Foam Tape | Other Product:  border punch | archival ink

“Making A Memory” Card

To create a shabby effect on this card I softened my background by coating the pretty leafy pattern with  Derivan Gesso and white crackle medium.  Once dry I used my finger to apply a touch of mauve ink.  How fabulous is this C6 Brick Decorative Die!! Randomly cut out sections from the diecut, for a rustic/shabby look.

Kaiser Product: Botanica – PP973 6.5” Paper Pad | CS223 Clear Stamp Set | DD713 Decorative Die – C6 Bricks | F660 Mini Paper Blooms – Amethyst | IP733 Ink – Vine | CD511 Card Pack C6 – White | T303 Foam Tape | | Other Product:  DM-1MM2M10 MM10 Derivan Gesso | crackle medium | ink

“Friends” Card

The Paper Pad and Collectables were used to create this card.  I couldn't resist adding a few fussy cut flowers from the “Roots” pp.
I love to sand my edges, as it’s a lovely way to soften and add a touch of shabbiness.  Kaisercraft now have a set of Sanding Blocks, which are so much easier to use than a bit of sandpaper and have a different grade on each side!!
Tip:  Use a sanding block to soften the edges of a dark pp or photo.  It also add a lovely distressed feel.

Fly Free Collection
The 2nd Collection for this month is called “Fly Free”.  Such a vibrant collection and really packs a punch with its beautiful teal, hot pink and green colour palette.  This range has gorgeous florals interspersed with pretty birds and butterflies… so delicious!!
Another pretty photo of Brittany in amongst some Bougainvillea, and no I didn’t plan this photo to go with this paper range, but it is another perfect match, don’t you think!!

 “Dare to Dream” Layout

For this LO, I have mixed various pp’s in torn strippy sections at the top of my LO and used the lovely “QT” floral pp with a white background, so that I could spray it with Kaisermist to add a drippy effect, then randomly stamped over the top with Believe Texture Stamp.  To match the teal colour from the reverse of the Besties pp I mixed the Turquoise Kaisermist with a touch of the Lime Kaisermist... it came out close a pretty close match!!
I framed my photo, by fussy cutting a few flowers and leaves and teamed them with a few Collectables.  To create a little dimension I added a few of the fussy cut leaves and flowers with foam tape here and there, then finished off with a smattering of Split Pea Rhinestones.

Kaiser Product: Fly Free - Paper – P1890 QT, P1894 Bestie, P1895 Gal Pal| CT833 Collectables | KM102 Kaisermists – KM105 Turquoise, KM104 Lime | CS891 Texture Stamp – Believe | RS407 Rhinestones – Split Pea | T331 Sanding Block | IP917 Ink – Black | T303 Foam Tape

“Dream Big” Card
A pretty card created using the Paper Pad, Collectables and the reverse of "Kindred" pp which was fussy cut, then highlighted with a touch of bling, using Rhinestones.
Tip:  To make a vibrant coloured papers pop, ink your edges in black.

Kaiser Product: Fly Free - Paper – P1898 Kindred Spirit | PP975 6.5” Paper Pad | CT833 Collectables | SS289 12x12 Sticker Sheet | Rhinestones – RS407 Split Pea, SB775 Aqua Marine, SB702 Hot Pink | CD511 Card Pack C6  – White | IP917 Ink – Black | T303 Foam Tape | Other Product:  DM-1MM2M10 MM10 Derivan Gesso

Little One Collection
The final Collection is an adorable baby-themed collection called “Little One” which has the cutest images of  owls, elephant and hot air ballons with fluffy clouds and is a total must for creating LO’s with your precious baby boy or girl photos or why not use this range to create a cute projects for a baby shower gift or that special card for a new arrival.

 “Precious Baby Girl” Layout

This adorable pic of my niece Ella inspired me to use the Zoe and Noah pp’s from this cute collection.   The background was created by masking Derivan light modelling paste with the sweet floral section of the Flora Quarters Template, then randomly stamping over the masking with the “so precious” stamp from the matching Stamp Set.
Collectables and Stickers are a quick and easy way to make clusters of embellishments… omg how cute are those little owls!!  Just play around with grouping together various pieces until you are happy with your clusters, then adhere with foam tape to create dimension.
The Modern Doily Decorative Die is so pretty with the little hearts and flower cutouts.  I thought it tied in beautifully with this sweet baby page.  I also used the Love Hearts Decorative Die in amongst my cluster and backed it with smooth white cardstock for a softer look and to make sure it wasn’t lost in amongst the other embellishments.
Tip:  Keep the negative cut outs from your diecuts to use as embellishements (eg the little flowers and hearts from the Modern Doily Die)

Scrap Africa Guest Designer - July 1st Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone,

I was very excited to have been invited by the lovely Denise van Deventer to be this month's Guest Designer for Scrap Africa Challenge Site.

The challenge for the 1st of the month  is to use this beautiful sketch designed by Denise.
You can create a card, tag, layout, an altered project, journal pages or even a digital project! You can create whatever you like!   Click on the link HERE to take you to the Scrap Africa blog site and be inspired by all the gorgeous creations from the Design Team and Guest Artists.

You can also find a  link at the bottom of the post to add your challenge creation.

You have until 14 July to upload your projects.

Here is my take on the sketch..  I decided to flip the sketch once to the right,

Oh So Pretty
I really enjoyed creating with this sketch and pretty much stayed true to it other than flipping it once to the right, as it was so pretty, but you can interpret the sketch any way you like.
I created the background  by starting with a couple of mists, then stenciling with Viva Inca Gold metallic mediums and for a little more texture, some microbeads.
The pretty chipboard flourish from Imaginarium Designs was altered with aged embossing powders from Stampendous.  They create a lovely depth with their multi-toned colours.
Materials Used:  Prima, Ruby Rock It and Donna Salazar pp's, Prima Mask, Heidi Swapp glitter stickers, Imaginarium chipboard, KaiserMist, Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists, Stampendous aged embossing powders, lace, jute twine,  buttons, microbeads, Girls Paperie Alpha stickers

Thanks so much for stopping by :)
