Get Picky - Inspiration Challenge

The Best Things in Life Aren't Things

The new inspiration challenge is up at Get Picky.  As the winner for the last inspiration challenge I was invited as to create a LO for the new challenge.  Really love the colours that went with the inspiration pic and love how my LO came out.  Pop on over to the site and check out all the gorgeous creations from the DT... very inspirational.

Here is how I interpreted the inspiration pic and colours.  Used some old Prima for the background and overlayed with a gorgeous diecut.  Of course you all know I love flowers so I had to add some prima flowers and bling and for a bit of texture some cheesecloth fabric which I distressed and scrunched.  The sweet little butterfly chippies are from Scrapmatts and the the glimmermist is denim blue.  My journaling reads " Brittany always remember to enjoy the little things.. like a beautiful Summer's day with the sun warming your skin, a breeze to gently lift the hair from your face, the smell of flowers to sweeten your day and the sound of birds singing to lighten your heart."

Scrap The Girls - Always Together

Update

Couldn't help myself, this LO was bugging me as it didn't feel right so I tweaked it and am now much happier with it now.  I added the clouds and the picket fence and some mist splatters to give the misting a bit more definition.

A last minute entry and a quick one for Scrap The Girls.  I would have liked to have spent a  bit more time on this inspiration challenge as the pic was so fun and bright, but I left it a bit late and really wanted to fit this one in.  Not my best work but it has a cute fun feel to it.  Used some Fancy Pants, MME & WRMK pp's with a Martha Stewart punched border and some cute buttons from Purple Pumpkin. There is a some misting in Riptide, but it doesn't show up very well in the pic.. not a great pic as I took this indoors.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love :)

Once Upon a Sketch

My Sweet Girl

Thought I would give Once Upon a sketch a try this month as this site is specifically aimed at challenging you to add more journaling to your LO's and this is something I don't always do.

Pretty much stayed true to the sketch and added my journaling on the MM journal spot.  Used some American Craft for the background which I misted with Strawberry Shortcake chalk mist and added some Kaiser droplets.  Layered some cute girly BG & Sass Lass pp's and distressed the edges.  I find I have a hard time leaving the edges clean.. doesn't feel finished if I don't distress the edges.  Just had to add some hand cut elements when I pulled out the BG Olivia paper... used them for my flower clusters... so cute!!

New Bird Is The Word Challenge

Begin/Beginning

Have been very busy over the Easter break catching up with family, so I haven had a lot of time for scrapping and blogging, but I have the Bird is the Word Challenge for you to look at.  The word for this fortnight is Begin/Beginning and there is also a fantastic sketch by the lovely Nadia to inspire you if you choose to use it.  Check out this link here to see all the gorgeous creations from the Design Team for some inspiration.

I decided to create a LO with a pic of me.. not one of my fav things to do as it's always difficult to journal about yourself, but I thought the kids would want at least a few of me in their albums.  I found a quote that I loved from Oscar Wilde which reads: " To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance" and added a bit of journaling which reads "At 45 I am finally starting to feel comfortable in my own skin and am learning to love who I am, wrinkles, flabby bits and all".  I don't normally like to pose for photos, so I quite like this shot my DS just snapped when I was unaware he still had the camera.

I loosely interpreted Nadia's sketch and used some of my fav range of papers from Echo Park "For the Record" & Crate Paper "Portrait".  Misted the background with a Crafter's Workshop butterfly stencil and keeping in line with the butterflies had to use some of my MS butterfly punches.

Scrap The Boys
So Happy Together

I have had this LO sitting on my desk waiting for my next post.  Mangaged to squeeze it in amongst my CT work.  This is one of my fav pics of Luke and DH from quite a few years back whilst on holiday and of course I was inspired by their clothing which was the criteria for this month's challenge at Scrap The Boys.  Used some Bo Bunny, MME and 7 Gypsies pp's, some Kaiser balloon embellies and stamped some borders with a gorgeous new stamp set from Pink Paislee.  Couldn't go past adding some ink splatters.

A Sneaky Peak

Here is a sneak peak for some DT work for an upcoming new Challenge Site... will be able to share the exciting news within the next week!!

Let's Get Shabby

Last minute entry for Let's Get Shabby.  The challenge for April was to create your project and use Beatrix Potter illustrations for inspiration.

I decided to make a card this time around with some papers from Graphic 45 & Pink Paislee.  The Peter Rabbit image was downloaded from the internet and layered with some Graphic 45 hand cut elements and a touch of lace and pearls.

123 April Challenge

Had fun with this month's 123 challenge which is:
Colour: Lime Green
Word: Really
Technique:  Use Fabric

Went through my stash of fabric and found a white napkin with a fab waffle weave texture, some tiny black and white gingham and a lovely textured gauzy fabric which I incorporated in this LO for the fabric element.  My title reads "You really have no idea how gorgeous you are" .

Used some very old Scenic Route pp, a Sass Lass border and recycled some Prima packaging which I punched and added a sweet rubon.   The black flower is velvet... I layered it with a doily which I hand dyed a lime green and a lovely lace flower and topped off with some Prima bling.

I love using Basic Grey doily papers with glimmer mist, really gives a soft and dreamy effect.. used some key lime gllimmer mist for my background.  Finished off my LO with a gorgeous chipboard flourish from Dusty Attic which I painted black to make it pop and used it as a frame for my photo.

A Little Toot

Had a quick look at my dashboard last night and noticed my LO on the screen and realised I had won the Get Picky Inspiration challenge.. so excited!! I loved this challenge the inspiration photo was absolutely gorgeous.. so girly and full of butterflies.. right up my alley!  As the winner I get to create a LO for next months challenge.. hopefully I'll do it justice.
I also have some news which I will be able to share with you early next month.. very excited!!

Get Picky Inspiration

Unique

Loved the inspiration picture when I saw this on Get Picky and I knew I had to fit this challenge in... such gorgeous colours and all those butterflies.. right up my alley.

Here is how I was inspired by the pic.  Used some Fancy Pants, Prima pp's and a MME die cut paper, Prima flowers and a couple of feathers.  I altered the Scrapmatts butterfly and flourish chippies by inking over them then spraying them with glimmermist for a bit of shimmer.  I then distressed, hand cut and punched  my papers, layered them with some foam tape and finished off with some pearls.

Here are a few close ups:

Stuck Sketches

Come On Give Me A Smile

Here is my LO for April 1 at Stuck Sketches.  Sorry about the pic not being so great, the weather wasn't so good for taking pics today.

Scrapped some pics of Luke and Brittany.  At 17 Luke's at that age where it's all just too embarrassing to have your photo taken.. as you can see by the look on his face.

Had a play with some Echo Park and Crate Papers as they mix really well together and also a piece of Bella Boulevard. Used Kraft for my background and splashed on some black paint to make the papers pop.  I also inked my edges in black for a little definition and crumpled the background pp's.

The gorgeous white hand made flower I received from Anita Stokes for taking part in "Pass it Forward".  The items had to be hand made and I received two gorgeous flowers.  Below is a pic of the other flower as well.  I then had to pass it forward to the 1st 5 people to respond on my blog and I have made and sent some hand dyed doilies.  I had a lot of fun experimenting with the dye.

 Lovely Surprise!!

I received a wonderful surprise in the mail this week... it was a parcel from Colleen B.  She visited here in   Brisbane in the Christmas Holidays and I got to meet her and her lovely family when we caught up for a coffee. We had the most wonderful chat and it was so nice to meet IRL.  As a thank you she sent me this gorgeous hand made card that has a little pocket on the inside and in the pocket was the cutest stamp that she had made for me to stamp on my hand made creations... such a fantastic idea!!  Thanks so much Colleen, I was having a really awful day and receiving my little parcel in the mail added a bit of brightness to my day.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love.. I really appreciate all your gorgeous comments :)

Bird Is The Word

Magic
Been absent for a little while as I haven't had much time to scrap. Hubby has been away for for a couple of weeks (still 1 week to go) and I have had all these little dramas cropping up... these things always happen when he's away!!!.

Managed to start a LO last night and have just finished. Really enjoyed creating this LO for the challenge at Bird Is The Word this month. The challenge word is "MAGIC" and I knew straight away which photo I wanted to use and the papers to go with it. I pulled out my Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime pp's as it's so sweet and magical and perfect for this challenge.

Lots of fussy cutting, distressing and inking and a touch of lace and pearls. The butterflies are made with the Martha Stewart punch and a Scrapmatts butterfly chippie and I also used a Scrapmatts scroll chippie at the top of the page.
I just love this photo of Luke and Brittany when they were little as they look so sweet and innocent. My title reads "It's only in innocence you find any kind of MAGIC".
YIPPEE!!
YAY!! I have some wonderful news to share very soon... so excited :))))
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love:) I'm off to leave some love for all you gorgeous girls right now!!

TCR #52

True Beauty Lies Within

Loved the this beautiful colour palette for The Colour Room this week. I was able to use some of the new Prima papers on this one... just LOVE Prima!!! Had a go at altering this gorgeous photo I took of Brittany yesterday... played around with the gritty function and I love the slight grungy effect it gave to this pic.

Decided to glitz it up a little on this LO with Kindyglitz highlights on the hand cut blossom branches and some Kaiser bling, then a little bit of lace and some distressing for a bit of texture to finish it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love :)
