YAY!!! FINALLY PUBLISHED

So excited as I received my confirmation for my LO to be published in Scrapbooking Memories... so it's official.  I also have another LO which was accepted but am waiting for confirmation.  This is my first publication, so I'm over the moon.  Can't wait to see it in the mag (Vol. 12 No. 7).

The Colour Room #7

The is my LO for TCR#7. This is an old pic of Brittany at 2 years of age.  She was so cute with her curls, chubby cheeks and rosy lips... my little cherub.  Again this was a pastel colour palette which I find a struggle, but it came out OK.  Used Daisy D, Fancy Pants & MME pp's, Prima flowers and pearls, MME frame, sticker strip & Butterfly, Websters journal card, lace and ribbon.  I whitewashed the b'fly to soften the colours and I used purple chalk to colour the flowers on the green pp.

Challenge Heaven - May Sketch Chall

Had fun with this sketch challenge.  This is a fun pic of Brittany.  It was a huge poster for a lolly shop with giant jelly beans.  Brittany has such a sweet tooth and I think she was wishing those jelly beans were for real.  Used bright Sass Lass, WRMK and October Afternoon pp's, Prima bling, and finished off with some maching stitching.

Artastic Challenge

This is my first challenge for the Artastic Challenge site.  This month the Artastic inspiration is the painting 'The Kangaroo' by Garry Shead & DH Lawrence.

For 2 points you have to use an animal on your LO and for an extra 3 points you need to have an Australian animal.  I used the colours from the painting and the country feel for inspiration on my LO.  The photos were from our holiday at my SIL's farm.  The kids had a ball moving the cows to another pasture.  I used MME Bohemia pp's and a kookaburra on my LO for the extra points.

Mad About Scrappin - May Challenge 2 of 4

The criteria for this challenge from Mad About Scrappin was: 5 flowers, 4 circles, 3 pp's, 2 photos, 1 ribbon/mesh/lace etc.

Photos of Brittany's 14th birthday.  I used 5 flowers in top left corner, 4 fabric circles, some bright Basic Grey, Crate Paper & Fancy Pants pp's, 2 pics and a bit of ribbon tied in button on top left.

Mad About Scrappin - May Challenge 3 of 4

This card challenge was a vintage theme incorporating one of your favourite things.  Made this card with 7 Gypsies pp.  Stamps from Autumn Leaves, Paper Studio and Clearly Impressed, a few metal embellies and some floral lace, Prima flower, gorgeous pearl button and a touch of glitter.  One of my favourite things are butterfly stamps.  I really love anything with wings.

Scrap The Girls - May Challenge

Haven't had as much time as I'd like to scrap this past week as hubby is away and I've had a lot going on.  This is what I've managed for May Challenges.

The Scrap the Girls challenge for this month was to use this colour palette.  I loved these colours.  They are so fresh and very girly.  I used Bo Bunny October Afternoon and Bella pp's, and added a cluster of girly embellies.

Challenge Heaven- Ebony & Ivory

This challenge was a bit of a struggle for me as you could only use black OR white with yellow.  Found all my yellow stash, then was stumped.  I left it out and fiddled with it for a few days and this is what I came up with.  I used a white background with a yellow floral overlay then added various strips of pp's lace and ribbon.  The doily and the Prima flower softened the photo, then added a touch of bling and the cuttlebug butterfly.

Stuck Sketches - May 1st Challenge

This was the 1st sketch for this month at Stuck Sketches.

This is my take on this month's sketch.  I took a gorgeous pic of DH whilst on holidays at Christmas.  The reason I say gorgeous is he's actually smiling and I love his smile.  He always has this serious face when I take pics of him, so I don't have many where he's smiling.

I ended up using a few techniques on this LO.  I misted, stamped and crumpled the kraft cs.  The red cs I used a script embossing folder and inked the edges for a grungy look.  I punched the pp with an EK Success Fleur de Lis border punch and distressed the edges and then stamped the large flourishes with a Prima stamp in teal paper, add a few embellies & rubons, then inked around the background paper to soften the black and tie in with brown tones.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Happy Mother's Day to all.  Hope your having a great day and getting pampered.  I received breakfast in bed from my 2 darlings... really yummy!!!  The rest of my present is a restful day with no bickering and hubby is taking his mum and I out to our local Thai restaurant for dinner.   YAY - NO COOKING DINNER TONIGHT!!!

I managed to get in a bit of scrapping over the last few days, and finished off 2 Challenges.

The Colour Room - Palette #5

I had quite a challenge on my hands for this palette as I'm not really into pastels.  I almost didn't participate in this one, but I thought it would be good to get out of my comfort zone.  In the end I really liked how it came out.  I used Prima and Websters pp's which I hand cut and layered.  These pp's always make for a great a LO - some Fancy Pants journal cards, a doily which I misted and masked.  I stamped the background green Bella paper with a butterfly stamp and finished off with a touch of lace.

Kraft It Up - May Challenge

I only recently found this site and I love it!!

This month you need to use KRAFT and you must create your OWN PAPER, whether it is your background paper (Kraft) or you opt to create some patterned paper to use on your page.
This must be created by stamping, misting, masking or painting and you can use any medium inks, glimmermist, texture paints, gel mediums, paints, crackle paints etc...

My take on this challenge was to mask my kraft cs with mesh then use a Hampton Art border stamp along the top and bottom of the page corners in WRMK pp which were leftovers from a recent challenge page.  I recycled a clothing tag for the peace & circle embellies on the LO, added a few more embellies, rubon & brads and grunged it up with some distressed edges and machine stitching.  I really love the grungy look for teen boy LO's.

TFL & have a great day:)

"FRIED GREEN TOMATOES" - FS2S

I just finished this month's FS2S may movie poster challenge.  This month's poster was "Fried Green Tomatoes".  It had to be on an important woman in your life, predominantly red and green, green title and a tomato somewhere on the layout.

The important woman in my life is my older sister.  We have totally different personalities and sometimes she drives me insane.  You know how it is with older sisters, but I couldn't live without her.  She is my rock, someone I can talk to about anything and she's always there when I need her.

I used this very rare photo of us together.  It's rare because we both hate having our photo taken, as they usually look woeful... we're not very photogenic.  I have to say I had to eat my words with this pic, as it's really lovely.  We are both happy and smiling and look pretty good if I must say so myself.

I used gorgeous Prima & Bella pp's and Prima flowers.  The little white embroidered flowers I purchased overseas.  Had to use Martha Stewart punches... I just love them!!  My title was cut in teal paper on my Cricut and I used a lovely American Crafts chandelier sticker.  The little quote says "sisters are different flowers from the same garden", which I thought was really sweet.  There is a tomato poking out right at the top in amongst the flowers.

CHALLENGE HEAVEN - MAY CHALLENGES

Card Sketch Challenge

This is my take on card sketch for this month at Challenge Heaven.  I mad this card for my little niece, so I made it bright and girly.  Used WRMK heart attack pp's, prima flower, Martha Stewart doily punch, button, Hampton Art stamp & highlighted with Kindyglitz.

Quote Challenge

This month the quote was "Gotta Love... and no flowers.  I used the title "Gotta Love that Fro" as Luke has the most incredible fro going on.  He gets his hair from his dad, only his hair is a light brown while dad's is dark brown.  Used WRMK and Glitz design pp's to give it a retro feel and added a cluster of embellies.  It came together pretty quickly which is unusual for me as I'm a slow scrapper, but I really liked the way this came out.

Colour Room Palette #4

New challenge for The Colour Room.  This was a gorgeous colour palette to work with.  This is a photo of Luke which I love.  I painted the background on Kraft c/s & used WRMK, MME & Pink Paislee pp's, Prima flowers and bling, Chatterbox & Daisy D's embellies, pom pom ribbon, mesh & /Grace Taylor b'fly stamp.

Kraft It Up Challenge

This is my first challenge for Kraft it up.  This site always uses kraft c/s with a twist.  This month was kraft c/s with a monochromatic colour scheme.  I used blues tones which I thought would go well with this pic of Brittany.  The pp's are  Autumn Leaves, Basic Grey & Creative Imagination,  Martha Stewart punches, Prima & MM embellies, b'fly stamp and hand cut the Basic Grey floral paper.

Black with 2 Challenge

This was also my 1st challenge for Black with 2.  The May challenge was predominantly black with red and white.  You had to have flourishes & hearts.  I used Kaisercraft Sakura pp's with Cricut flourishes and title which I glimmermisted.  The hearts were 2 pins to which I added beads and poked them into the Prima flower, added a doily with a rubon and some lace threaded with stitched ribbon.  I changed this photo of Brittany to black and white.

Challenge Heaven - May Colour Challenge

The May colour challenge was black grey and orange, which was perfect for the Basic Grey Ambrosia pp's.   You also had to have ribbon.  This is a pic of my Manx cat Millie in the garden... so cute.

Woo Hoo... I Won a Challenge

I'm so excited I won April's From Screen to Scrap Challenge.  The prize was a gorgeous kit from What's Old is New.  The movie poster inspiration was "Little Miss Sunshine".  The challenge was to use a fair bit of yellow, have Little Miss or Little Mr in your title, and a car, truck or van somewhere on the page.   This was my LO.

MAD ABOUT SCRAPPIN CHALLENGES

Did some last minute scrapping to get my 4 April challenges finished for Mad About Scrappin.

Card Challenge - April 1 of 4

This challenge was to use ribbon, circles and flourishes.  I used bright Fancy Pants & MME pp's. There is a ribbon bow on the Prima flower centre with flourishes on either side, and there are circles on the pp's and the button is also a circle.  I used a Stampendous stamp for the sentiment.

Card Challenge - April 3 of 4

For this card challenge you had to use dark muted colours, some stripes and it had to be a masculine card.  I used WRMK & Prima papers with an EK Success punch on the stripe border. A Tim Holtz grungeboard skull painted black with a Scrappy Cat stamp with a bit of ribbon and some Carolees alpha stickers.

LO Challenge - April 4 of 4

For this LO challenge you had to have a black background with negative space.  I decided to use this pic of me which was taken by a friend when we did a photography class.  I rarely like photos of myself and I don't have very many as I am usually the one behind the camera, but I really liked this one as it was taken of me when I was unaware.  I find it difficult to pose for pictures and look natural.  Used Jillibean, Bo Bunny & Teresa Collins pp's & a book page, with Chip Chop Shop doily & button, rhinestone button, Martha Stewart punches and a Unity lamp stamp.

LO Challenge - May 1 of 4

For this card challenge you had to use flowers and leaves with some bling.  I used Bo Bunny & October Afternoon pp's with rhinestones as flower centres.  Hero Arts stamp on a K&Co journal tag and a Martha Stewart doily punch.  Finished off with a button and some ribbon.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers Cathy
