Happy New Year!!! - OUAS Jan Challenge

Hi Ladies,

Happy New Year!!!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous time bringing in 2013.

I have the first challenge for the new year at Once Upon a Sketch to share with you.  Check out the link HERE for all the details on how to enter... we have a few new changes.  While you there, check out the gorgeous creations from our super talented Design Team and all the fantastic prizes up for grabs from our sponsors.

Theme: "The start of something new"
The new year is among us. What better way to celebrate change, renewed hope and having a positive attitude than with a brand new year? A new start...a new horizon and the start of something new! A new year is full of possibilities. So in honor of the start of 2013, we would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "The start of something new..." however you like. Whatever that sentence inspires you to scrap then go for it.

Ideas for journalling: Include the theme sentence as your title, a new job coming up or the beginning of a new job and in the past and what it meant to you, a child's new toy, a new house you are building/moving in to or one you have moved in already, a new year and what it means to you, a new attitude, the start of a new school year, a new relationship - yours, a family members, your child's, a new friendship, new wardrobe, new diet, new phone, new haircut...

New Adventure
My take on the challenge was to create a LO from our trip to New Zealand as it was a new adventure.  To change it up a little, I rotated the sketch once from right to left.  Some of the Design Team were sent a gorgeous pack of papers from Maja Designs to use on our creations... I have used Walking in the Forest and Crea Diem pp's which are perfect for a masculine LO.   I have also used the steampunk clock and mini cogs chipboard from Imaginarium Designs, which I altered with Viva Deco Ferro paste in copper, which gives the chipboard a fabulous rusty textured look.

The background was created with Prima stencil and Viva Deco modeling creme and while it was still wet I sprinkled with some Stampendous bronze Mica Fragments.  When dry I then smudged some Viva ferro paste in copper and old gold over the top.

Materials Used:  Maja Designs, MME and Creative Imaginations pp's, Imaginarium Designs chipboard, 7 Gypsies tags and rubons, MME diecut sticker, Viva Decor Ferro Paste, Modeling Creme and Precious Metal Colour, Stampendous Mica Fragments, Tim Holtz tape, metal game spinners and Distress Inks, LYB metal brad, Hampton Art clear stamps, Thickers glitter alphas, vintage ticket, copper paint,

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is. You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
