The Scrapbook Store DT - Maja Design 'Summertime' and a Sad Farewell

Hi everyone,

I am so sad to say that this will be my last blog post for The Scrapbook Store.  I have had the most fabulous time being part of this amazing Design Team and would like to thank Suzanne McGregor and Marelize Frisby and all the girls for making my time on the DT such a wonderful experience.  Will miss you all xx

This month I have been creating with the gorgeous Maja Design 'Summertime' Collection, which has 2 colour themes - masculine beachy blue tones and pretty feminine red and pink tones and they intermix beautifully together too!!

Live Laugh Love
To create this feminine layout I layered three of the papers and distressed and tore the edges to create a shabby effect.
The background was misted with Prima Sultry Shimmer Peony Color Bloom Spray, then stenciled with Kaisercraft diamonds template and Prima crackle medium.  I then randomly stamped the background with Kaisercraft Script stamp and Ranger Carnation Red archival ink, then flicked with Lindys Stamp Gang moss green mist.
I fussy cut the lovely flowers from the Smell the Roses pp to create flower clusters to add to my layering and finished off with a sweet Prima resin frame and a couple of Green Tara cherry blossoms which I altered with Prills in sage advice.

Summertime by the Sea
For my last layout, I created a mixed media beachy page with the blue pp's from this collection.
I have used similar techniques by layering and distressing 3 of the pp's, then stenciled my background with a Tim Holtz mini stencil and Faber Castell whipped spackle.  I then applied the Luminarte Silks which I mixed with water with a brush and spritzing with water to create a watercolour effect and finished off with flicking some of the watered down paint.
I cut down the Scrapmatts bubbles chipboard into 3 pieces and applied blue seed beads to add some texture, then finished off with layering some of the pp's under my photo.

The Scrapbook Store DT - Maja Design 'Summertime' Collection

Hi Everyone,

Sharing my 2nd layout created for The Scrapbook Store using the beautiful Maja Designs 'Summertime' Collection.

"Summer Fun"

I went through some old photos of Luke and Brittany a few months ago and came across this sweet photo of the 2 of them when they were little, splashing around at the Beach in Caloundra and thought the pretty blue tones in this collection would be perfect for this beach themed photo.

I had fun playing around with the background on this layout.  I sprayed the background paper with Kaisercraft Aqua mist, Lindy's Whale Watch Blue and Azure Sea Asters starburst mists, then stencilled with Prima bubbles template and Prima white crackle paste.

Once dry and crackled, I highlighted with Gold Viva Inka Gold medium and applied a bit more misting.  I then stamped with Kaisercraft tiny dots texture stamp and Ranger Cobalt archival ink.  To add a bit more texture I randomly applied I'm A Maized Prills, then lightly sponged over the background with gesso to create a bit of softness.

I'm A Maized Prills

To create the darker flicks of colour, I mixed cobalt ink with water on a non-stick craft mat and flicked over by background.

How gorgeous is the Blue Fern Chipboard Seashell Frame!!  I altered the frame by applying a coat of  Gold Viva Inka Gold, randomly applying Stampendous Aqua Aged Embossing Powder, and then highlighting with Aquamarine Viva Inka gold.

The clusters were created by cutting up the Prima French Riviera Flower Vine and tucking distressed pieces of Green Tara Jute Twine underneath to look like fishing net.

To make my glass pebbles pop, I coated the back of them with Aquamarine Inka Gold.

For a bit of shimmer the Summer Words Decorative Die was diecut from Kaisercraft gold glitter cardstock.

The Scrapbook Store - Maja Design Summertime Collection

Hi Everyone,

This month for The Scrapbook Store I am creating with the beautiful Maja Designs 'Summertime' Collection.  This range comes in very versatile feminine red, pinks and creams and masculine blue and cream with hints of green... love it as the designs are so soft and pretty and the patterns co-ordinate beautifully!!

Summertime Layout

This collection has so many pretty co-ordinating designs.  I was drawn to the 'Light Scarlet' background pp and teamed it with the pretty 'Is Always the Best' creamy pp and the cute check from the 'Taste the Strawberries' pp, which I tore and layered over the top.

The matching 'In the Garden Diecuts' pp has a range of sweet frames and tags which are perfect for layering under your photo.

To soften the red background paper, I have stenciled with Prima Art Basics Light Paste and the pretty Tim Holtz Doily layering stencil.  Randomly stamped with a script stamp in Memento toffee crunch and splattered with Kaisercraft Lime Green Mist.

I finished off with a Prima flower Vine, Petaloo teastained butterfly and some cute Queen and Co Droplets, which I highlighted with a white Sakura Gelly Roll Pen.

The Scrapbook Store Maja Design Enjoying Outdoors

This month for The Scrapbook Store I am creating with the beautiful Maja Designs "Enjoying Outdoors" Collection. Here is my final layout for the month using these gorgeous papers

Be Happy Be Bright Be You
I know some of you out there aren't too keen on the colour purple, but I love it!! and it looks so dreamy when it's softened with cream and green tones.

How perfect do the Green Tara Azaleas and Mini Blossoms match in with these papers... looks like they were made for this range!!   The pretty Dusty Attic foliage chipboard pieces were altered with Beck Beatties's Tinby Designs Metallic Melts in Sherwood Green.  I used a sponge to apply gesso to the chipboard first, giving it a raised rippled look, then coated with the embossing powder and heat set.

The pretty frame was cut from a Kaisercraft Oval Ornate Frame Die and I also used the Kaisercraft Moroccan Lattice Die to create a template for my background masking.

The masked background was stamped with the Kaisercraft Lattice Texture Stamp in Ranger Fern Green Archival Ink.  I then randomly added some Violet Prima Glitter Glass by applying with glue and a small brush for some added texture

The Scrapbook Store - Maja Designs Enjoying Outdoors

Hi Everyone,

This month for The Scrapbook Store I am creating with the beautiful Maja Designs "Enjoying Outdoors" Collection.

There are some pretty soft green pp's in this Collection, which I decided to use to create my layout.   I highlighted the pp's with peach accents for a pop of colour and cream accents to soften the overall look of the layout.

The beautiful Blue Fern Bird Ornaments chipboard piece was cut into 2 sections, altered with a coat of    Eggshell White Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint then stamped with Kaisercraft script texture stamp in Abandoned Coral Distress Ink and tucked in between a couple of flower cluster created with Petaloo Textured Blossoms and TSS mini flowers.

To create my background I masked with Crafters Workshop Tiny Dots and Faber Castell Whipped Spackle, then stamped with Kaiesrcraft Script texture stamp in Olive Ranger Archival Ink as well as the Kaisercraft Flutter texture stamp in Abandoned Coral Distress Ink, the flicked all over with Kaisercraft Peach Mist, and Lindy's My Mojito Green Starburst Mist.

Happy New Year!!! - OUAS Jan Challenge

Hi Ladies,

Happy New Year!!!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous time bringing in 2013.

I have the first challenge for the new year at Once Upon a Sketch to share with you.  Check out the link HERE for all the details on how to enter... we have a few new changes.  While you there, check out the gorgeous creations from our super talented Design Team and all the fantastic prizes up for grabs from our sponsors.

Theme: "The start of something new"
The new year is among us. What better way to celebrate change, renewed hope and having a positive attitude than with a brand new year? A new start...a new horizon and the start of something new! A new year is full of possibilities. So in honor of the start of 2013, we would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "The start of something new..." however you like. Whatever that sentence inspires you to scrap then go for it.

Ideas for journalling: Include the theme sentence as your title, a new job coming up or the beginning of a new job and in the past and what it meant to you, a child's new toy, a new house you are building/moving in to or one you have moved in already, a new year and what it means to you, a new attitude, the start of a new school year, a new relationship - yours, a family members, your child's, a new friendship, new wardrobe, new diet, new phone, new haircut...

New Adventure
My take on the challenge was to create a LO from our trip to New Zealand as it was a new adventure.  To change it up a little, I rotated the sketch once from right to left.  Some of the Design Team were sent a gorgeous pack of papers from Maja Designs to use on our creations... I have used Walking in the Forest and Crea Diem pp's which are perfect for a masculine LO.   I have also used the steampunk clock and mini cogs chipboard from Imaginarium Designs, which I altered with Viva Deco Ferro paste in copper, which gives the chipboard a fabulous rusty textured look.

The background was created with Prima stencil and Viva Deco modeling creme and while it was still wet I sprinkled with some Stampendous bronze Mica Fragments.  When dry I then smudged some Viva ferro paste in copper and old gold over the top.

Materials Used:  Maja Designs, MME and Creative Imaginations pp's, Imaginarium Designs chipboard, 7 Gypsies tags and rubons, MME diecut sticker, Viva Decor Ferro Paste, Modeling Creme and Precious Metal Colour, Stampendous Mica Fragments, Tim Holtz tape, metal game spinners and Distress Inks, LYB metal brad, Hampton Art clear stamps, Thickers glitter alphas, vintage ticket, copper paint,

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is. You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
