Dusty Attic November Mood Board Challenge

Hi everyone,

We have a gorgeous new Mood Board Challenge for this month at The Dusty Attic... my favourite colours!!  Why not join us to be in for your chance to win a fabulous $100 prize voucher!!

I absolutely adored creating with this month's Mood Board, as teal, aqua and green make the most beautiful colour palette, especially when combined with white... so fresh and pretty!!

"Beautiful Dreamer"
For my layout, I was inspired by the Mood Board pic of the flowers and humming bird, the script background on the dragonfly pic and all the frames and of course the beautiful colour palette.

To create my background I applied Dusty Attic Texture Paste through the Creative Script Stencil, then misted with Lindys Stamp Gang Tibetan Teal and Kaisercraft Lime Green, misting with water first, then applying the mist with a small round brush to create a watercolour effect.

Once dry, using the frames from the Mood Board as inspiration I stamped the background with the Prima stitched squares in teal Archival Ink.

For the top left and bottom right corners I cut up sections from the Ornate Frame #7, coated the pieces with gesso, then applied Dusty Attic Jungle Green acrylic paint.  Once dry I lightly flicked over with watered down Dusty Attic Texture Paste.

I repeated the same process with 1 of the corner flourishes from Corner Flourish #1 Pack.  I cut off the small inner flourish and used it to lengthen the flourish.

The Wrought Iron Fence Border was coated with gesso and altered by threading through with some green twine.

I used 2 different word packs to create my title which I altered by first coating with gesso, then misting with Lindy's Stamp Gang in Tibetan Teal.

For a little dimension and texture I altered my chipboard by adding a few Green Tara flowers and some pretty guipure lace pieces.

To finish off I watered down a little Dusty Attic Clear Gloss Varnish and flicked over my background, making sure to cover my photo.  Whilst the varnish was wet, I applied the Lettuce Entertain You Prills.

The Scrapbook Store - Bo Bunny Love and Lace

Hi Everyone,

Today I am sharing my 2nd layout created for The Scrapbook Store with the beautiful Bo Bunny "Love and Lace" Collection.  This collection is a beautiful gathering of lace, flowers and leather accents in soft dusky colours that go beautifully with projects featuring love and friendship.

For this layout I have been inspired by a gorgeous photo of my nephew's wedding, as the love theme in this range lends itself perfectly to wedding photos.

Always and Forever
I love the shabby effect of tearing and layering paper and have been using this technique quite a lot recently as it's a great way to showcase various pp's without it being too busy.  I have chosen the green tones of the Bo Bunny "Affection" and "Leather" pp's and mixed in a section of 7 Dots Studio Soulmates "Welcome to Happiness" in a pretty soft pink to add a little contrast.

The background was masked with the pretty Tim Holtz "Gothic" layering stencil and Shimmerz Texturez paste in crushed coral, then flicked over in several mist colours to add dimension.
This range comes with co-ordinating diecuts and buttons, which I have used to layer around my photo with pretty flowers from Green Tara.
I finished of the layout with a beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboard title from the Wedding Word Set.

The Scrapbook Store Maja Design Enjoying Outdoors

This month for The Scrapbook Store I am creating with the beautiful Maja Designs "Enjoying Outdoors" Collection. Here is my final layout for the month using these gorgeous papers

Be Happy Be Bright Be You
I know some of you out there aren't too keen on the colour purple, but I love it!! and it looks so dreamy when it's softened with cream and green tones.

How perfect do the Green Tara Azaleas and Mini Blossoms match in with these papers... looks like they were made for this range!!   The pretty Dusty Attic foliage chipboard pieces were altered with Beck Beatties's Tinby Designs Metallic Melts in Sherwood Green.  I used a sponge to apply gesso to the chipboard first, giving it a raised rippled look, then coated with the embossing powder and heat set.

The pretty frame was cut from a Kaisercraft Oval Ornate Frame Die and I also used the Kaisercraft Moroccan Lattice Die to create a template for my background masking.

The masked background was stamped with the Kaisercraft Lattice Texture Stamp in Ranger Fern Green Archival Ink.  I then randomly added some Violet Prima Glitter Glass by applying with glue and a small brush for some added texture

The ScrapbookStore - Graphic 45 Mon Amour

Hi Everyone,

I have my last layout for the month created for The Scrapbook Store using the Graphic 45 Mon Amour Collection.

The Mon Amour Collection has an overall wedding/love theme and my 3 previous LO's were created with this in mind, but for this LO I wanted to show you that it can be used outside of this theme and went for a pretty feminine page.

All Natural Beauty- Graphic 45 Mon Amour Collection

To create my background I coated the AC vanilla cardstock with clear gesso, then masked the Tim Holtz Gothic Stencil with Faber Castell whipped spackle mixed with Lindy's Chateau Rose mica powder from the Tres Chic Magicals Set.  I then sprayed the masked area with Lindy's Cape Code Coral Starburst Mist, dried off, then sprayed with Lindy's Clam Bake Starburst Mist and finished off by flicking with Dylusions White Linen mist.

I have torn a section of the Dearest Darling pp to go down the centre of my page.  My photo was framed with a frame fussy cut from the Mon Amour pp, and then layered with pieces of the My Beloved pp and peach pp from the Paper and Solids 6" paper pad, which I distressed and inked in Tim Holtz Festive Berries.
I add a bit of dimension to my layers I have tucked in some of the Chipboard Tags 1.

I cut off a section of the Blue Fern Floral Spray chipboard and altered by coating with Faber Castell gesso first, then applying Lindy's Cape Cod Coral and Clambake as well as Olive Vine Twinkling H2o's with a brush.
I used the alpha stickers from the 12x12 Sticker Sheet to create my title and distressed them with the Kaisercraft Sanding block to add to the shabby chic look of my page.
Green Tara Azeleas and roses were flicked and brushed with Lindy's Cape Code Coral mist

The Scrapbook Store - Graphic 45 Mon Amour Step by Step Tutorial

Hi everyone,
I have my third LO for the month, which is a step by step tutorial, created for The Scrapbook Store using the gorgeous Graphic 45 "Mon Amour" Collection.  I have been inspired by beautiful photos of my nephew's wedding last year.

“Kiss” - Graphic 45 Mon Amour Collection

To start off, ink the Kiss word from the Blue Fern Wedding Words pack in black.  Cut down the floral piece from Blue Fern Layering Stems pack into 3 pieces, then coat this as well as the leafy stalk and the Twilight Garden Frame Chipboard pieces with gesso. Once dry spray with Pink Kaisermist first, then randomly spray with Red Kaisermist and Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Spray Stain.  Allow the mist to absorb into the chipboard, then lightly dab off some of the excess mist with a wet ones, or if you prefer it darker leave as is.  Put aside to dry.

Cut the barcode strips from the Graphic 45 Precious One and Hearts Desire pp’s.  Cut 1cm from the top and 1cm from the right hand side of the Hearts Desire pp, then using the Kaisercraft Sanding Block, sand the edges of the paper, to create a white border.  I love this technique, as it’s a great way to add a touch of softness to your papers.  Adhere the Hearts Desire pp, peach side facing up centrally to the Precious One pp black side facing up.

Using the photo as a guide mask your background with Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and the lattice section of the Kaisercraft Flora Quarters Template.

Flick the Pink and Red Kaisermist over the masked area.  While you have the mist spritz the Petaloo butterfly with Red Kaisermist .  Once your background is dry, randomly stamp the newsprint section of the Prima Royal Menagerie mini stamp with Black Archival Ink over the masking, then inking only the butterfly, stamp a couple of butterflies around the top section of your masking using the photo as a placement guide.
To create a cutting guide so that your photo fits into the Blue Fern chipboard frame, lightly draw a pencil outline onto your photo, using the outer circle, cut inside the line, then adhere your photo to the back of the frame with glue.  I cut off the little lantern, so that I could attach it further down on my page to make sure it wasn’t covered up with flowers.

Cut the Love Notes Label from the My Beloved pp and 2 roses from the Dearest Darling pp.

Using the main photo as a placement guide adhere the frame to the paper doily, then adhere the doily to your background with a bit of glue or tape just in the centre of the back of the photo so that you can then tuck in the bits and pieces around the frame.  You can then go back and adhere the doily section once you are happy the placement of all your embellishments.

Cut 2 of the blossoms from the bottom of the Black Green Tara flower stem to tuck in around your flower cluster. Adhere the flowers, extra chipboard stalk and fussy cut rose to the bottom right side of your frame.  Then adhere one of the Kaisercraft mini blooms, fussy cut rose and little chipboard stalk the left hand side of the Graphic 45 chipboard mini frame.  To soften the look of your flowers, apply a little gesso with your finger to the cherry blossoms and mini roses.  Adhere the lantern under your flower cluster.

Adhere the Kiss Chipboard Title to the top left of your frame and the Scrapmatts chipboard phrase on the bottom left.  Top the Petaloo butterfly with a pearl and adhere where the G45 chippie meets the doily.
Your layout is now complete.  I hope your enjoyed my step by step tutorial.

The Scrapbook Store - Blue Fern "Frolic" Collection

Hi Everyone,

I was so happy to find the new Blue Fern "Frolic" Collection in my parcel of goodies from The Scrapbook Store this month.  I absolutely adore their product and was very inspired by the new range... so pretty and girly!!  I also have some of their gorgeous chipboard to play with too!!

For my first layout, I was inspired by Blue Fern's September Sketch Challenge this month when creating this page.  The sketch was rotated one turn to the right.

Stencils are one of my staples when creating my LO's as I love adding mixed media to my pages.  The Scrapbook Store has a fabulous range of stencils to choose from!!  To keep in with the pretty shabby chic theme I chose one of the gorgeous Prima Floral Stencils called Poppies, which I masked with Faber-Castell - Whipped Spackle, but you could also use modelling paste or gesso for a similar effect.

Once dry I used a brush to apply the Pink Kaiser Mist around the masking, using a water mister to spritz the area before applying the Kaiser Mist for a soft watercolour effect, then lightly splattered  Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Mist -Yellow Rose Of Texas around the masked area.

If you like the shabby chic look, distressing and tearing is a great way to alter your pp's.  Here I have used my Kaisercraft - Craft Knife to cut a slit in the top and bottom of my pp, then distressed the edges using my fingernails.  To add a little contrast to my background, I opened up the area to reveal the pp underneath.  Just cut up a sections to fit, rather than use a whole sheet of pp.

I love the new  Blue Fern  Flutter Page Dangles chipboard pack and have use one from the pack to frame my photo... you receive 3 in the pack and they all have pretty butterfly designs!!  I altered the chipboard by coating with Dina Wakely White Gesso first, then adding a layer of  Viva Decor - Croco Crackling Color - White.

To tie in with all the prettiness from the Blue Fern Studios - Frolic Secretary pp I created a cluster with the  Petaloo - Botanica Mums and Butterflies – YellowGreen Tara - 3cm Mini Roses - Pink and   Green Tara - 4.5cm Azaleas – White,   For a little softness, I distressed muslin and tucked in around the my flower clustersm then swiped a little gesso with my finger over the roses.

For my title I have used a die cut from my Cricut Expressions Machine using the reverse side of the Blue Fern Frolic "Secretary" pp.
