The Scrapbook Store - FabScraps Vintage Elegance Step by Step LO Tutorial

Hi everyone, Today I am sharing my Step by Step Tutorial for March for The Scrapbook Store, using the gorgeous FabScraps ‘Vintage Elegance’ Collection which I received in my parcel of goodies.

This range is has a beautiful mix of florals, damask, script and stripe patterns, with a gorgeous shabby chic feel to it, which is right up my alley.  I have complemented the papers with pretty pearl accents and a touch of lace in a simple design, with a smattering of fussy cut elements, which is one of my favourite techniques.  To keep the focus on the beautiful papers, I only slightly altered my background with a touch of stamping and lightly flicked mists in several colours.  Would love to see some of your layouts inspired by this beautiful Collection in our gallery!!

Laugh as Much as You Can

Cut 6cm strip from bottom of FabScraps ‘Love is in the Air’ pp and ink edges in pastel blue Prima Chalk Ink.

Cut 2 x 30 cm lengths of white scalloped lace and adhere to top and bottom of paper, then adhere this piece to the stripe side of the ‘Paris’ pp, leaving a 3cm section showing on the top and bottom.

Randomly stamp the background with Kaisercraft Script Background Stamp in Watering Can Ranger Archival Ink, then flick over with winter grey and charcoal Kaisermist.

Spray one or two spritzes of the Candy Kaisermist onto a non-stick craft sheet, then mix in a little of the Peony Scarlet Red Mica from the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Prairie Wildflowers Magicals Set.  Randomly flick over the background.

Cut the Blue Fern Studios Tattered Diamonds Bits into smaller sections and coat with gesso.  Dry off, then paint on the premixed mist onto your chipboard pieces.  To create dimension, add more colour in random spots.  Once dry, lightly stamp over with Kaisercraft Script Stamp.

Fussy cut flowers, leaves and butterflies from the left over piece of FabScraps ‘Love is in the Air’ pp.  Paint the tips of the fussy cut butterflies with the pre-mixed mist and embellish with pearl brads.

Diecut the larger frame from the Kaisercraft Rectangle Fancy Frames in Kaisercraft Neptune cardstock.  Cut down your photo to fit in the frame and adhere.

Using the picture as a guide, adhere your framed photo, then arrange your fussy cut elements chipboard pieces and velvet hydrangeas around your photo and adhere with foam tape.

Adhere the small resin frame to the bottom right of your photo.  Cut the love you words from the Kaisercraft Clear Sticker Sheet to fit in the frame and adhere.  Embellish the frame with a velvet flower, fussy cut leaf, Prima dangle and charm.

January Creations and Tutorial - Kaisercraft

Hi Everyone,
Today I have my projects created with the Kaisercraft new release "True Love" and "#Me" Collections as well as a Step by Step Tutorial on a misting technique with glad wrap using some of the gorgeous newly released Kaisermist colours.

First up I have my creations using the beautiful "True Love" Collection, which has a romantic theme with soft and pretty watercolour florals, lacey hearts and a lovely array of quotes for that someone special in your life.  I have also used this collection for my step by step misting tutorial.

Cling Wrap Mist Tutorial

“Be Happy Be Bright Be You”
For my tutorial I thought I would share a simple but very effective technique using glad wrap and some of the newly released Kaisermists.  All you need are a few mists, in various colours that complement each other, a piece of cardstock/pp, gesso, and glad wrap.  I have used the new Candy and White Kaisermists, along with the Red, Peach and Pink from the previous release.
To start, coat your background cardstock/pp with gesso.  The gesso stops the mist from absorbing straight into the paper.  I have used white cardstock, so that the marbling effect of the misting technique really pops.  If you  are going to use patterned paper, it looks better if you choose a pale coloured pp with a very subtle pattern to it.  I find the heavier weight of cardstock works better.
Dry off thoroughly with a heat gun, then mist generously with your lightest colour first, through to your darkest colour.
Tear a piece of glad wrap with about 45cm long, then apply over your misted area, crumpling the glad wrap as you go.  This will need to dry overnight or a couple of hours outside in the sunlight.
Once dry, just peel away the glad wrap and you have a gorgeous marble-toned background!!
Cut off the diagonal strip from the reverse side of the "My Baby" pp and tear diagonally down to form a large corner piece, then cut and tear another smaller corner piece.  Tear strips from the "My Precious" pp to fit under the corner pieces and adhere.  Tear lengths of mint glitter tape and affix to corners, then using the hessian texture stamp and lagoon ink pad stamp randomly around the edges.

Fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the reverse side of "My Soulmate" pp.
Affix the large torn corner section to the right-hand side of your background and the smaller torn corner to the bottom left side of your background.
Diecut a section from the Butterfly Cardfront Decorative Die from the green "My Baby" pp so that you have 3 butterflies.  Coat with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter.  Diecut the Be Happy Decorative Die from the peach side of the "My Love" pp.
Adhere your photo, then arrange and adhere the fussy cut pieces, butterflies, rhinestone flourishes around the left-hand side of your photo.  Top your butterflies with fern sparklets and randomly adhere sequins and beads around your flower cluster.  Finish off by adding the heart collectables with sticker phrases on the bottom right of your photo and adhering your diecut Be Happy title.

The Scrapbook Store - Graphic 45 Mon Amour Step by Step Tutorial

Hi everyone,
I have my third LO for the month, which is a step by step tutorial, created for The Scrapbook Store using the gorgeous Graphic 45 "Mon Amour" Collection.  I have been inspired by beautiful photos of my nephew's wedding last year.

“Kiss” - Graphic 45 Mon Amour Collection

To start off, ink the Kiss word from the Blue Fern Wedding Words pack in black.  Cut down the floral piece from Blue Fern Layering Stems pack into 3 pieces, then coat this as well as the leafy stalk and the Twilight Garden Frame Chipboard pieces with gesso. Once dry spray with Pink Kaisermist first, then randomly spray with Red Kaisermist and Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Spray Stain.  Allow the mist to absorb into the chipboard, then lightly dab off some of the excess mist with a wet ones, or if you prefer it darker leave as is.  Put aside to dry.

Cut the barcode strips from the Graphic 45 Precious One and Hearts Desire pp’s.  Cut 1cm from the top and 1cm from the right hand side of the Hearts Desire pp, then using the Kaisercraft Sanding Block, sand the edges of the paper, to create a white border.  I love this technique, as it’s a great way to add a touch of softness to your papers.  Adhere the Hearts Desire pp, peach side facing up centrally to the Precious One pp black side facing up.

Using the photo as a guide mask your background with Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and the lattice section of the Kaisercraft Flora Quarters Template.

Flick the Pink and Red Kaisermist over the masked area.  While you have the mist spritz the Petaloo butterfly with Red Kaisermist .  Once your background is dry, randomly stamp the newsprint section of the Prima Royal Menagerie mini stamp with Black Archival Ink over the masking, then inking only the butterfly, stamp a couple of butterflies around the top section of your masking using the photo as a placement guide.
To create a cutting guide so that your photo fits into the Blue Fern chipboard frame, lightly draw a pencil outline onto your photo, using the outer circle, cut inside the line, then adhere your photo to the back of the frame with glue.  I cut off the little lantern, so that I could attach it further down on my page to make sure it wasn’t covered up with flowers.

Cut the Love Notes Label from the My Beloved pp and 2 roses from the Dearest Darling pp.

Using the main photo as a placement guide adhere the frame to the paper doily, then adhere the doily to your background with a bit of glue or tape just in the centre of the back of the photo so that you can then tuck in the bits and pieces around the frame.  You can then go back and adhere the doily section once you are happy the placement of all your embellishments.

Cut 2 of the blossoms from the bottom of the Black Green Tara flower stem to tuck in around your flower cluster. Adhere the flowers, extra chipboard stalk and fussy cut rose to the bottom right side of your frame.  Then adhere one of the Kaisercraft mini blooms, fussy cut rose and little chipboard stalk the left hand side of the Graphic 45 chipboard mini frame.  To soften the look of your flowers, apply a little gesso with your finger to the cherry blossoms and mini roses.  Adhere the lantern under your flower cluster.

Adhere the Kiss Chipboard Title to the top left of your frame and the Scrapmatts chipboard phrase on the bottom left.  Top the Petaloo butterfly with a pearl and adhere where the G45 chippie meets the doily.
Your layout is now complete.  I hope your enjoyed my step by step tutorial.
