Jan 123 Challenge

Major Flooding in Brisbane

We have the most terrible weather conditions here in Brisbane with major flooding in surrounding areas and flash floods in Toowoomba. I am fortunate that my home is on higher ground, so we are safe, but there are so many people who have suffered major damage to their homes and there is more to come over the next few days. My younger sister lives in Toowoomba and again she is very fortunately that her home is safe. The scenes of devastation shown on the news channels are just so shocking.

I would just like to say that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are going through this horrible situation and can only hope that the weather conditions subside soon.

Beautiful Inside & Out

I haven't had much time for scrapping lately, but did manage the Jan 123 Challenge, which was:

WORD: Beautiful

COLOUR: Purple

TECHNIQUE: Punching

I know there a quite a few of you out there who aren't too keen on the colour purple, but I love the colour, especially if you add a touch of green. I decided to alter this recent photo taken of Brittany by changing the flowers to purple to match the colour for this challenge.

Used some Kaisercraft, Prima pp's with some white tissue paper which I glimmer misted and glittered (looks much prettier IRL). I punched the borders of the background paper and a little white strip under the photo with some Martha Stewart border punches and also added some punched MS butterflies. Hand cut some Kaiser pp in the corners with a lovely Prima flower cluster and finished off with some kindyglitz highlights.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love :)

  12. Well Cathy, you manage to make purple just beautiful. And so you change the colours of the flowers hey??? That's how you match so perfectly. I love the cluster of flowers above the photo. If I tried that it would a bad flower hat from a hat parade.
And yes, my thoughts are with those affected by the floods. It is truly devastating and the clean up is going to be harder.

  14. I'm so glad you are safe Cathy! I've been glued to the news this morning and it's so terrible!!!

Also, I've been meaning to ask you - did you get approved on bon's scraps? If you are still waiting approval, could you let me know on my blog what your username is? Then I can get you approved straight away. There's so much of a clog-up with spammers etc, hence the big delay.

If you already are approved, no worries, it has just come to my attention that some people have been waiting a long time - that's all.

    Cheers! :D

P.S. thanks once again for all your lovely comments on my blog. You really brighten my days. Truly!

    xo
