The Dusty Attic April Mood Board/Sketch Challenge - A Little Bit of Country

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing my take on this month's Mood Board/Sketch Challenge and perhaps inspire you to take part for your chance to win a $100 Dusty Attic Gift voucher to the Dusty Attic Website.  To enter all you need to do is use the Moodboard/Sketch for inspiration, which can be interpreted any way you like.  The only requirement is that you use Dusty Attic chipboard on your creation.  Once completed, simply add your link to the right hand side of the bar on the Dusty Attic Blog.

This month's Mood Board has a gorgeous rustic/country theme, which I used as my inspiration. but you can be inspired in any way you like by the Mood Board - it could be the colours or even the textures or you could just use the gorgeous sketch from Page Drafts.
A Little Bit of Country is Good for the Soul
I have such lovely memories of spending time on my Sister-in-Law's farm in Forster, New South Wales.  As a family we had the most wonderful and relaxing holidays out in the country and loved getting a little taste of the farm life, which included helping move the cows from paddock to paddock.  This particular time I had my camera and snapped these adorable twin calves that seemed to take a very keen interest in Luke and Brittany.

To create this layout I used a few of the rustic themed chipboard pieces, which I altered by coating with various layers of ink, from light to dark to create a weathered look, then lightly dabbing with Inka Gold metallic paste in copper to create a rusty effect.  I used microbeads and metal accents on the Windmill, Chicken Wire and Wagon Wheel chipboard pieces to create additional texture.

I love using stencils on my backgrounds and there are so many fabulous Dusty Attic designs to choose from!!  To keep in theme with the rustic feel of my layout I used the Woodgrain Stencil and ink, then randomly stamped over the stenciled design with a weathered background stamp to create a bit more depth.  To adhere the microbeads to my background I used the Clear Gloss Varnish with a brush.  Lastly I randomly flicked over my background with Lindys gold mist to soften the overall effect.
Framing your photo is a great way to draw the eye and make it pop.  I created a frame for my photo using the Barb Wire chipboard, which I altered by first inking with Jumbo Java Versamagic ink, then randomly dabbing with Gingerbread ink and copper Inka Gold metallic paste.
