Craft Queen - A Sad Goodbye

So sad to say that this will be my last post as a Design Team member for Craft Queen.  A big thank you to Nicole and the girls for making my time with Craft Queen such a wonderful experience. Will miss you all, but will pop in from time to time to say hello.

Craft Queen - Kaisercraft Tea Break

Hi Ladies,

I have a LO to share using the gorgeous new range from Kaisercraft called Tea Break.  I created this LO by layering some of the pp's from the 6 1/2 inch paper pad and incorporating some of the diecuts from the Collectables pack.

Nicole from Craft Queen also has a great selection of stencils available in store, and I have used a beautiful floral mask from Prima to create my background.  I masked the background using some clear gel medium, then misting with 2 shades of pink.  To add a little contrast I flicked some Fern Luminarte pigment powder which you mix with water.

Once Upon a Sketch - November Challenge

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is! 

For my take on the challenge, the first thought that came into my head was the joy I receive from looking out of my kitchen window at the moment.  We are lucky that 2 of our neighbours bordering on our backyard have Jacaranda trees which are in full bloom, and it is the most beautiful sight of gorgeous mauve flowers against a bright blue sky with a hint of green foliage.  Every time I look out my window, it never fails to make me feel happy.

I have hidden my journaling on the manila tag under the Imaginarium heart chippies.

Canvas Class - LO Pics

Hi Ladies,
On Sunday I had the pleasure of teaching a class to a lovely group of ladies in Lowood.  We had a lot of fun with some mixed media techniques that we applied to a canvas.  I loved that they all put their own individual touches on their canvases and changed it up from my original example, so that they all came out differently.

This is my example of the canvas.  I have used tissue paper on the background for some texture, which was misted, then masked with gesso and splattered with a contrasting mist.  The canvas was edged with layers of mesh tape, washi tape and some punched borders to create a frame. A few pieces of distressed and grunged patterned papers and lace were used to frame the photo, and some pretty flowers were added in clusters.  The gorgeous diecut frame bordering the title word is from Manor House Creations and ties in beautifully with the shabby chic look of the canvas.

The class kit had enough leftovers to create a few quick and easy cards.

Craft Queen - Kaisercraft Lady Rose

Hi Ladies,

I have a LO to share using the gorgeous new range from Kaisercraft called Lady Rose.  I have used the 6 1/2" paper pad and the collectables with some beautiful ribbons and embellishments available from Craft Queen.   Just click on the links in product list below for stock availability. 

The background on this LO was created by spreading some gesso down first, then misting over the gesso with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Salt Water Taffy, I also flicked some randomly for a bit more depth.  These mists have a beautiful glimmery sheen to them.  Once dry, I used a Prima mask with some gesso.  Finally I had a play with some Luminarte pigment powders.   They have a very deep pigment with a gorgeous shimmer, so a little goes a long way.   I mixed a very small amount with some water in a palette, then picked up the colour with a paint brush and flicked the colours over my background.  The colours used here are Fuzzy Peach, Blushing Rose and Olive Vine.

Once my background was totally dry, I layered the Kaisercraft papers, Collections Elements, trims, to frame my photo, then added a few embellishments.

OUAS October Challenge Reveal

Went for a masculine grunge page with a bit of a vintage feel for this month's DT LO.  I altered my photo to blend in with the papers and embellishments I chose.

To create some depth I used mixed media layers on my background, with masking, misting, inking, stamping and some copper Viva Inka Gold and gold Viva Precious metal paint.  Using Nadia's sketch as a guide I layered, distressed and inked various pp's with foam tape, and also used a few random pieces of blue washi tape on some of the of the layers.
