Kaisercraft Tuesday Tip - Colouring Mediums with Kaisermists

Hi Everyone,

I have the Tuesday Tip for this week at Kaisercraft, and today and I am going to share a technique using the delicious new Kaisermists!

I love my Kaisermists and use them on my creations all the time, they come in 10 gorgeous colours and have a beautiful shimmer to them.  Today I am going to show you how to use your mists to make your own coloured mediums.  Because Kaisermists have intense colour pigment in them, they mix beautifully with gel mediums to create your own vibrant textured mediums.

Here is a sample created by mixing the Glitter Bead Gel Medium, Gel Medium and Clear Crackle Medium with the Lime Kaisermist... don't they look fabulous!!

You can also use white-based mediums like Modelling Paste and Gesso, but will get more of a pastel shade.  You do need a bit more mist than used with Gel Mediums to achieve good colour results   Just have a play around and experiment by adding colour a little at a time, until you have achieved your desired shade.

Here is a sample of  Kaisermists mixed with white-based mediums and different coloured mists.  The White Opaque Flakes Medium has white flakes but is gel-based so you can see the colour is more intense.

To colour the crackle medium, I placed enough of the medium for my project on a craft sheet and added a little of the mist.  You want to make sure you have enough mixed for your project, as unless you use the exact same amounts of medium to mist ratio, you may not be able to replicate the colour.

I then mixed with a palette knife until all the mist is blended through.   How easy is that!!

Here is a little canvas I created using some Crackle Medium mixed with Orange Kaisermist and Glitter Bead Gel Medium mixed with Yellow Kaisermist.

Other Product:  canvas, sequins, doily, thread, corner punch

I applied the orange crackle and left overnight to dry.  The medium does dry darker.  I then applied the Yellow Glitter Bead Gel Medium with the Damask Quarters Template.

Once dry, I sprayed the canvas with water around the masked area and applied Pink Kaisermist mixed with a touch of Red Kaisermist with a brush for a watercolour effect.

I embellished the canvas with Paper, Stickers and Captured Moments Cards from the "Fiesta" Collection.

Hope you enjoyed my tip and have fun creating your own mediums.
Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Kasiercraft Tuesday Tip - Embossing Folder Techniques

Hi Everyone,

Kaisercraft have just released a fab range of  Embossing Folders, so I thought I would share a couple of effective techniques that I love to use, created with an embossing folder and a couple of mediums.

Alison Bevis recently shared quite a few embossing folder techniques using your cuttlebug, but with these 2 techniques all you need is an embossing folder, cardstock and mist or texture paste.

Misting Technique

For this first technique, you will need – embossing folder, mist, and cardstock.

1  Spray one side of your embossing folder with mist
2.  Use it like a stamp and press the folder onto your cardstock. Make sure you press all over the folder and hold it down for 10-20 seconds to allow the mist to absorb into your cardstock.
3.  Lift off and you have a gorgeous watercolour image.

Texture Paste Technique

On the second technique you will need an embossing folder, water mister, texture paste, cardstock and mist. I was shown this fab technique by the lovely and talented Kim Ewins.

1.  Apply a coat of texture paste to your cardstock, then allow to sit for 5-10 mins, as you don’t want it too wet.
2.  Lightly spray one side of your embossing folder with water mister, then press down firmly, all over your embossing folder.
3.  Lift off gently. Make sure you wash your embossing folder straight away, as if the texture paste dries, your embossing folder will be ruined.
4.  Allow to dry, then mist over the top, to show off your embossed image.

You can play around with both sides of the embossing folder with these techniques, for a positive and negative image.

Have fun.

Kaisercraft - Tuesday Tip - Cork Sheets

Hi Everyone,
For this week's Tuesday Tip I thought I would show you how to make the most Kaisercraft's new 12x12 Cork Sheets.

First up the Kaisercraft dies are perfect for cutting out a beautifully crisp cork diecut.  Just be sure to remove your diecuts from the dies slowly as the cork may tear if you are not careful.

Once you have cut out your diecuts, you can alter the cork by stamping and embossing.  The first example is stamped with 2 tones of blue ink and the second example is stamped with white and embossed with white embossing powder for a crisper image.  The third example is stamped onto the cork then hand cut around the stamped image.

Here I have dry embossed the cork, which is a little trickier, as it can warp a little, but it is still very effective for creating texture.  The cork can also be used with all your punches quite easily.  I coated one of the punched borders with gesso for a softer look.

You can pretty much play around with any medium for different effects.  Here I have misted and painted    the cork.

For a grungy distressed look try tearing your cork.

I created this pretty card with the cork examples and the new Cherry Blossom Collection.
