CSI Challenge #115

Have been enjoying taking part in the Colour Stories Inspiration challenges lately.  I have needed a bit of inspiration to get me going, as my mojo has gone on holiday, so having the colours worked out for me and plenty of ideas for embellishments and journalling makes it so much easier.

Here is my take on CSI #115.  I had a little trouble at first with the colour palette, as I couldn't find the shade of peach I wanted, so I went over the blossoms on my pp and my flowers with some mist and a brush to make the flowers look more peach than pink... problem solved!!

Evidence:
hearts - I have a rhinestone heart on my little tag
lace - lace tucked under the torn and curled paper edges
bird - birds on the pp
leaves - fussy cut leaves
flowers - Prima flowers, fussy cut flowers floral doily mask, flowers on pp
rubons - I have used rubons in a grunge fashion on the edges of my LO
stamps - stamped quote
mixed media background - masking, misting

Testimony:
Inspiration Word - Dream

Product Used:  Pion Designs, Prima and K and Co pp's, Prima flowers, MME journal tags, Trinket Track bling heart, Hero Arts lace, Tim Holtz stamp, Tim Holtz distress ink-vintage photo, Tim Holtz doily lace stencil, modelling paste, Lindy's Stamp Gang mist- Autumn Maple Crimson, Tattered Angels Chalkboard mists - Apricot Nectar, Strawberry Shortcake and Chalk, Bo Bunny rubons, Silhouette Cameo title.

CSI #114 - The Story

Really enjoyed creating a LO for Colour Stories Inspirations 113 challenge, and was drawn in by the colour palette for the CSI 114, so here I go again.

The Story

Loved the vibrant colour palette for CSI #114.  Went for a mixed media background using one of the new Tim Holtz stencils and texture paste, which I sprayed with Inchworm chalkboard mist.  I overlayed the masking with stamping, torn strips of washi tape and rubons, then layered a LYB transparency strip and various pp's under my photo.

For the Testimony I decided to journal a dialogue, which reads:
Me    "Come on Luke, please be nice, I need a couple of pics for my LO."
Luke  "Mum, is this really necessary.  I'm in the middle of something."
Me     "Yes, I'm desperate.  I promise I'll be quick and I'll love you forever."

"I'll love you forever is a phrase I use all the time to soften up the kids and hubby, when I want something done".  Sometimes I get lucky and it works!

Materials Used:  Kaisercraft, Basic Grey, Simple Stories pp's, Tim Holtz bubble stencil, Prima washi tape, MME, Bo Bunny and Kaisercraft stamps, Little Yellow Bicycle transparency strip, 7 Gypsies and Tim Holtz rubons, Simple stories, diecut stickers, Lindy's Stamp Gang mist-midnight rendevouz, Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist-inchworm, Tattered Angels Glimmermist-scarlet, Craft Queen washi tapes, Texture Paste, Ranger Archival ink-black

Manor House Creations - Birthday Wishes

Hi Ladies,

Today I have a set of 3 birthday cards to share created for Manor House Creations using flowers and frames from the Spring 2013 Collection.

Enjoy Today
On my 1st card I layered pp's, an altered paper doily and a Pink Paisley doily diecut, which I embellished with a cluster of flowers.  I used the Ooh La La vintage flower and changed the pearl to match my colour scheme.  I also altered the cream minuette flower with touches of Glimmer Glam and Glaze, again to tie in with my colours.

Distressing edges, paint splats and machine stitching  are a few techniques to achieve a shabby chic feel to your cards.
MHC product:  Ooh la la, Minuettes - cream pink grey

Birthday Greetings
On this 2nd card I have used the ornate frame-scallop white backed with pp and embellished with cluster of flowers.   Just use a pencil to trace the inside of the frame as a template, cut 1/2cm around the pencil line, then adhere paper to back of frame with glue.

I altered the background with a stencil and texture paste, then flicked some Glimmer Glaze in 2 shades of green.  To create some softness and a shabby feel I smudges some of the texture paste over the stencilled design.
MHC product:  Floral Mix - Arielle, Mini Blush Roses - soft gold, Ornate Frames - scallop white

Happy Birthday

On my last card I have used the ornate frame-gothic white which I backed with paper, then added a greeting sticker.

I embellished the frame with the camel coloured flower from mixed floral tiffany pack, which I altered by pulling out the stamens and replacing with a wooden button topped with a pearl embellishment, and teamed with a soft gold tea rose.
MHC product:  Floral Mix - tiffany, Tea Roses - soft gold, Ornate Frames - gothic white

Manor House Creations - Colourwash Flowers

Hi Ladies,

Sharing a LO created using the very versatile Believe paper range from Manor House Creations teamed with some of the gorgeous flowers from the Spring 2013 Collection.

Cousins

I decided to alter the "Us Together" pp from the Believe Collection with a mixed media background.   I started by coating my pp with texture paste and while still wet I pressed in a piece of muslin, then dried the area off.
Next I misted the background with some water and splattered a few different colours of mist.  The water allows the mist to blend, giving a watercolour effect.

Once dried I masked a stencil with more texture paste, then dried off.  Finally I stamped over the area with a background stamp.

The edges were punched and layered with the black side of the Butterflies pp placed underneath to make them pop.
The Colourwash flowers are perfect for pulling apart.  To frame my photo I pulled apart a pink colourwash flower into 2 pieces.  The top part was used as a smaller flower and the bottom was folded over in half and tucked under the photo to make the flower look full and fluffy.  I then softened the flowers with a bit of texture paste applied lighted to the edge of the petals.

The white flowers from the Letters from Paris pack where lightly edged with a little Viva inka gold in rose pink.  I pulled off the pearl centres and replaced them with a bling heart from The Trinket Track, which I altered with Inka Gold in rose pink.

MHC Product Used:  Believe papers - Butterflies, Us Together, Colourwash doubleups - soft pinks, Letters From Paris, Floral Mix - Arielle, Minuettes -pink mix, Rose Leaves- medium,  Ornate Frames - flourish white.
Other Product Used:  border punch, Prima stencil and stamp, texture paste, muslin, Trinket Track resin flowers and bling heart, Scrapmatts chipboard frame, Viva Inka Gold - rose, Lindy's Stamp Gang mists, black orchid, Saltwater Taffy, Cotton Candy Pink, Creme Brulee Cream, Bougainvillea Fuchsia, Craft Queen washi tape
