Mixed Media Canvas - The Trinket Track

Hi Ladies,

I have a little mixed media canvas to share, created with some yummy embellishments from  The Trinket Track owned by the lovely Monica Brady.  Monica's store has a fabulous range of embellishments at fantastic prices, so check out the link for her store HERE.

Small Things With Great Love

I decided to have a play on this canvas background to try out a few techniques and this is the result.

First I coated the canvas with gesso, then tore up and layered some small pieces of book paper, and applied to the canvas with gesso.

To create a little texture, I added some mesh around the edges of the canvas, then layered a couple of punched lacy borders over the mesh.  I applied a little more gesso over the punched strips to soften the pp.

I made my own mist by mixing Kaisercraft paint, water, pva glue and some Perfect Pearls, which I applied over the canvas, allowing some pools to form.

Once dry, I cut out a floral stencil with my Silhouette Cameo and  masked with some texture paste.  I dried the texture paste with my heat gun and highlighted the flowers by rubbing some Shimmerz Dazzlerz in pucker up pink lightly around the flowers with my finger.

The canvas was embellished with a gorgeous wooden frame from the Trinket Track, which I gessoed, trimmed with a satin bow and a faceted rhinestone heart, then topped with a little cluster of flowers.  The butterfly charm, also from the Trinket Track, was altered with some Viva Inka Gold paste in old silver and topped with a small rhinestone heart in pink.

To finish off I printed a quote on some cardstock, and inked in black to add definition.

Trinket Track product:  wooden frame, resin rhinestone heart-clear faceted, resin rhinestone heart - pink, filigree butterfly charm.

Other product:  Canvas, gesso, Kaisercraft paint, Perfect Pearl powder, Shimmerz Dazzlerz pucker up pink, Viva Inka Gold old silver, Craft Queen satin seam binding, Petaloo organza flower, Prima blossom, berry sprig, Green Tara velvet leaves,  EK Success Abstract flower punch, Heidi Swapp sticker, Tim Holtz distress ink black soot, book paper, mesh

Scrap Around the World - Sept Challenge

Hi Ladies,

I saw a few entries for this month's challenge at Scrap Around the World on Facebook and decided to check it out.  I was taken in by the gorgeous mood board designed by the super-talented DT member Gayle Price and thought I would give the challenge a whirl.

Beautiful Inside and Out

I was inspired by the flourishes on the writing and the lacy swirly images from the painted design on the woman's face and the scallop details around her neckline.  I decided to use the sketch and black and white for my colour scheme to match in with the mood board.

Materials Used:  Bo Bunny, CI and Theresa Collins pp's, Prima damask stencil, EK Success Abstract Flower punch, Martha Stewart pansy punch, Basic Grey diecut sticker, Kaisercraft butterfly washi tape and rubon, lace, Craft Queen pearl embellishments, K and Company floral sticker, Bo Bunny butterfly stamp, Licorice Shimmerz Texturez paste, Gesso, black soot distress ink

Shabby Chic Canvas

Hi Ladies,

I have a pretty Shabby Chic canvas to share which was inspired by all the lovely Spring flowers that have started popping up in my neighbourhood.  I decided to use some yummy Manor House Creations and Green Tara flowers which I purchased from the lovely Monica at the Trinket Track.  Pop on over and check out the link HERE to see all the fabulous range of embellishments she has in store.

Had a lot of fun creating the mixed media background on my canvas.  First off, I painted a layer of gesso over the canvas, then allowed it to dry.  I used a patterned paper from Prima, which had a soft monochromatic pattern to add a little depth, then grunged up the edges with a lacy border punch.

A pretty damask stencil and some clear gel medium was used to add texture to the background.  To make the damask pattern visible I used my finger to rub in some mother of pearl Viva Precious metal colour.. they have the most beautiful shimmer to them!!

To soften the background further and add a fresh feel, I spread some random smears of Viva Croco Crackling in white.. LOVE this stuff, crackles beautifully!!!

Around the borders of my canvas I tore some strips of washi tape and randomly stamped with one of the new range of Kaisercraft background stamps (Lattice) and Tim Holtz black soot ink, then softened the effect with some gesso and a soft bristle brush.

Finished off by adding a spray of gorgeous MHC and Green Tara flowers, some lace and a pretty Collections butterfly.  The lovely diecut oval is also from Manor House Creations.  I backed it with a piece of MME pp which I printed on, then added a little more of the floral washi tape.  The rest of the quote was printed on the cream pp and cut it into strips.

Materials used:  Trinket Track - MHC flowers, Green Tara roses,
Craft Queen - washi tape, pearl embellishmemnt, Viva Croco Crackling, Kaisercraft lattice stamp, Tim Holtz Distress ink, Collections butterflies
Fiskars border punch, Cheery Lyn mini butterfly die, Matisse gel medium, Viva precious metal colour, Prima damask mask, MHC flowers and oval diecut, Prima and MME pp, lace, Versa Magic pixie dust chalk ink

Once Upon a Sketch - Sept Challenge

Hi Ladies,
I have this month's challenge for you at Once Upon a Sketch to share with you.  The theme for the month is:
Journalling Theme: "Lucky"

Click on the link HERE to be inspired by the gorgeous creations from our talented Design Team and Guest Designer and while you're there check out the fabulous prizes from our wonderful sponsors.

Forever Love

My paper selection on this LO was inspired by the colours in my husband's shirt. I have used some mixed media techniques on the lovely Kaisercraft lacy diecut which I have tried to capture in the closeups. The texture was created using Shimmerz Texturez paste and a flourish stamp.  I kept this LO pretty close to the sketch, but substituted a piece of Kaisercraft paper for one of the photos, and topped it with an Imaginarium Designs chipboard word which was cut from a title piece.  I covered the chipboard in Shimmerz Texturez paste then sprayed with Glimmermist.  To get the right shade of blue I mixed the Sapphire glimmermist which some Tattered Angels white chalkboard mist.  The beautiful blue pp's are from Maja Designs... love how they incorporate a matching strip on the bottom of their papers.. how cute are those hearts.  I have made 2 tags from the paper for my hidden journalling and topped them with one of my fav pearl embellishments from Craft Queen

Materials Used:  Maja Designs, Kaisercraft, K and Co and LYB pp's Imaginarium Designs chipboard, Kaisercraft and Pink Paislee stamps, Prima flowers, Craft Queen pearl embellishments, vintage lace, Glimmermist sapphire and scarlet, Tattered Angels white chalkboard mist, Shimmerz Textures tidy widy, Adornit tiny alpha stickers, Tim Holtz black distress ink.
