Dusty Attic DT Layout - "Happy"

Hi everyone,
Cathy here today, sharing my layout for this month.

"Happy"
I absolutely adore the recent release Creative Script chipboard!!  I altered by coating with Dusty in Colour Faded Denim, which is a quick and easy way to make your chipboard pieces pop.  I find applying the paint with a sponge gives better coverage than using a brush.

I also watered down the paint a little and flicked randomly over my background, along with some Lindys mist in a softer blue.

To tie in with my colour scheme, I altered the DeVine Frame corners and Happy title with Little Birdie cream chalk paint.  I highlighted the leaves on the corner frames with Distress Oxide in Frayed Burlap to create a little dimension.

The Dusty in Colour Clear Gloss Varnish is one of my must have products.  As I love to create with texture and dimension, the gloss varnish is perfect for adhering microbeads, sequins, beads and art stones to your mixed media backgrounds.  Just squeeze out a bit onto your messy mat pick up the gloss with a brush, then pick up your beads.  You can then just brush your beads/stones onto your background... so quick and easy!!

Other Product Used:
Maja Designs pp's
Fancy Pants pp's
Scrapcake pp's
Prima Art Stones
Prima Flowers
Little Birdie flowers
Little Birdie Chalk Paint
Tim Holtz Distress Oxide - Frayed Burlap
Lindy's Starburst Mist - Whale Watch Blue, Creme Brulee Cream

Dusty Attic June Release - Amazing Moments DT Layout

Hi everyone,
Today I am sharing a travel themed layout with a holiday pic from a recent cruise this year for my husbands's 60th birthday, created with June release Dusty Attic chipboard and stencil designs.

"Amazing Moments"

With so many gorgeous new designs, it's difficult to choose which ones to create with!! but I was drawn to the fabulous new travel border and corner chippies as they are the perfect match for the recently released Mintay Papers - Wanderlust Collection.

To create my background I used the new Burlap Stencil design, with modelling paste which I coloured by mixing with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide reinkers in pistachio mixed with a touch of tumbled glass.

Textured embossing powders are a great way to alter your chipboard.  I used Stampendous shabby pink embossing enamel on the Sand Dollars and Starfish to create texture and Emerald Creek Baked Texture embossing powders on the Travel Borders and Corners.

The Chain Rectangles chipboard frame was altered with Ranger Ancient Gold embossing powder, which looks more like a copper brown and a mixture of WOW verdigris and Stampendous White embossing powders for the Amazing Moments mini caption.

Dusty Attic July Mood Board Challenge - Happiness Blooms From Within

Hi everyone,
Today I am sharing my take on this month's beautiful Dusty Attic Mood Board Challenge, created with a few of the fabulous new June release chipboard designs.

I was inspired by the colour palette, as well as the berries and greenery in the birdhouse photo.  Remember you don't necessarily have to use the colour palette, you can be inspired by a particular photo, or an item in one of the photos, that is the wonderful thing about being inspired by a Mood Board... so many possibilities!!
"Happiness Blooms From Within"
I adored the gorgeous colour contrast of aqua, red and white and the berry details in this month's Mood Board and knew I had the perfect papers in my considerable stash...which sometimes comes in handy!!

Loving the new Burlap Stencil!!  I used the stencil with turquoise DecoArt Metallic Lustre paste on my background, which I softened by randomly stamping around the stenciling with Prima script stamp in Vintage Photo distress ink.
The pretty Foliage #3 chipboard pieces were coated with a green ink and Lucky Emerald Antique Brilliance Wax then highlighted with touches of turquoise Metallic Lustre to add depth.
I also used the turquoise metallic lustre to coat the new release Delicate Frame #3 chipboard frame and the small words on the new Happiness Blooms From Within chipboard title.

Page Pebbles are a great to incorporate into your layered clusters.  I just coated mine with white ink, by dabbing lightly until coated, so the etched words aren't filled with ink.
To make sure your colours pop and aren't dulled by the grey of the chipboard, prime chipboard pieces with white gesso.

DecoArt Metallic Lustre - Turquoise, White Frost
Prima Art AlchemyAntique Brilliance Wax - Lucky Emerald

Dusty Attic June Mood Board Challenge - #Adorable

Hi everyone,
Cathy here today sharing my take on this month's beautiful Dusty Attic Mood Board Challenge.  One of the many things I love about chipboard is that it's a fabulous way to create a relatively quick and easy layout.  Most of the creative time spent on this layout was in altering the chipboard pieces, the rest was tearing my papers, layering my elements and finishing off with a touch of glitter glass/microbead mix and a few flowers.

"#Adorable"

I was inspired by the metallic items, scroll accents, lace and colour palette.

To alter my chipboard pieces, I coated them with Little Birdie Tinted Metallic Paints.

The #Sayings word and Love You Arrow chipboard pieces were then sprinkled with Emerald Creek Rocky Road Baked Texture Embossing Powder, heat set, then highlighted with touches of Little Birdie Silver Oak metallic paint

I also used the Emerald Creek Embossing Powder, on the Decorative Scroll #1 under pieces to add a touch of texture.
