My 3rd Palette for TCR - RDA

RDA - TCR #39
This is my 3rd palette for my stint as a Revolving Door Artist at The Colour Room. Absolutely adored this colour palette... right up my alley, as I love using vibrant colours. Masked some creamy white Basic Grey paper with orange paint and a Basic Grey lace doily then added some hessian which I cut up and distressed. The white cardstock is misted with blue and green glimmer mist... such a shame the glimmer doesn't show in the pictures as it's so pretty.
This palette is perfect for those gorgeous Summer holiday pics!! Have a browse of TCR's photo gallery and be inspired to have a go at this gorgeous palette.

Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and wonderful New Year for tomorrow. If you're partying tonight hope you have a fabulous time bringing in the New Year :)

I would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to all my fabulous scrapping friends who have taken the time throughout the year to leave such gorgeous comments on my work. It really makes scrapping that much more enjoyable when you receive beautiful comments from people you admire in the scrapping community, and thanks so much for letting me get to know you all and make some wonderful online friends.

Oh How Time Flies

1,2,3 Challenge

Trying to fit in a few challenges before the end of the month. This is my LO for the 1,2,3 challenge which was:

Colour: Pink

Word: Oh

Technique: tissue paper

Used some pink patterned tissue paper for the background with the title "Oh How Time Flies" and of course lots of pink. Played around a bit with textures and used some gauze, hand made textured mulberry paper and lace as background for my photo. The journaling reads "My beautiful Brittany, where has the time gone? I can't believe you are already 15 years old. You have turned into such a lovely young woman and I am so very proud of you. Love Mum".

A Little Catch Up Post

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas with their families and friends. I am finally coming up for air after all the festivities. My sister was with us over Christmas and left last night. Just finished a bit of a clean up and now I have time to fit in a little post before we are off again to visit with family.

TCR #38

This is the 2nd of my Revolving Door Artist LO's for The Colour Room. A bit of a challenge for me, but I liked how it came out... luckily for me there was terracotta in this palette, so I had a bit of colour to work with. Managed to find some pp's in my stash that fit the palette and added a bit of lace and bling and some splashes of silver and terracotta paint.

Used one of my fav pics of Brittany at Christmas last year. I love this pic because she looks so pretty and girly in her gorgeous dress... I think I have mentioned before that Brittany is a bit of a tomboy and she just doesn't wear dresses, but made an exception for Christmas. This Christmas I nearly fainted with joy when she asked me if we could go shopping for a dress for Christmas Day and she purchased not 1 but 2 dresses!!!!! Shopping is another one of those girly things that she doesn't like... so I was very chuffed that she was OK about being seen out and about with her mum... really made my Christmas!!!

If you have a little time, go and have a browse in The Colour Room photo gallery... I'm sure you'll be inspired to try a palette or two.

I hope to have a little time to get in a few more challenges before the end of the month... fingers & toes crossed!!

I've Been Good

Scrap the Girls - Dec Challenge

It's been a mad house around here!! Had some family visitors who just left this morning... so I finally managed a quick LO for STG, as I have been out of action for a little while!!

Normally I would have chosen the purple & yellow or orange and blue colour combos, but I just took these pics of Brittany being silly in her Santa hat and just had to scrap them, so I went with the red and green. The crochet flowers are from Becci Sundberg... aren't they just gorgeous and the glitter frame overlay is from LYB.

We've had so much rain here. The last 2 days were gorgeous and sunny and now the rain has started up again today... oh well at least it will be cool while I'm getting some Christmas baking done.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas filled with happiness, love and lots of laughter!!

SO EXCITED!!!

I

Received the most exciting news a week ago which I have had to keep to myself until today... I was asked by the girls at The Colour Room to be a Revolving Door Artist for palettes 37-40, which means having my work featured for 4 weeks. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I read the email, as it was so unexpected. I'm a little apprehensive as the caliber of the work on TCR is so amazing... but I have been telling myself that getting out of my comfort zone is a good thing when it comes to scrapping.

Joining me as an RDA is the gorgeous Belinda Spencer, who has the most amazing talent. Congrats Belinda, I know you are as excited as I am and I can't wait to see your beautiful creations!!!

TCR #37 - Simply Delightful

This weeks #37 palette is a soft pastel theme which was bit of a challenge for me as I love bright and bold colours. I chose various pp's from Fancy Pants, Shabby Green Door & MM, some stamping and hand cut elements. Finished off with a little cluster of Prima flowers, a few butterflies with a touch of bling for a bit of dimension.

Thank you so very much girls for inviting me in to the Colour Room... so honoured and very excited to share my interpretations of your fabulous colour palettes and I hope that I can inspire a few people along the way.

If you have a little spare time go and check out the gallery at TCR, I'm sure you'll be blown away by all the gorgeous creations here and hopefully you'll be inspired to have a go at this weeks palette.

Christmas Craziness!!!

TCR #36

Busy busy busy at the moment and with Christmas just around the corner, it's a mad house around here.  I'm sure you are all going through the same thing.  I'm hoping with all the stress I will lose a few kilos so I can enjoy Christmas guilt free!!!!!  Don't even want to think of all that I still have to do, but at least most of the Christmas shopping is done.... just a few pressies to go and the rest of them are Christmas baking for neighbours and friends.

Managed to find time in between for this weeks TCR palette.  The palette was a bit more subdued... but I still loved it!  Decided on an outdoor photo of Brittany as my inspiration for this palette.  Used some gorgeous Websters which I hand cut and a lovely Websters tree.  The music sheet is from an old music book which Luke managed to finagle for me when he did his work experience at a Music Store this year and the satin flowers are some old Prima flowers which I absolutely adore!!  One of the flowers looks burgundy in this pic, but it's actually brown.

SO EXCITED!!! - TCR

TCR #35 - Featured LO

Two posts in one day... that has to be a first but I received the most exciting news in my emails today.  My "No Way Not Telling Mum" TCR #35 LO is featured this week!!  This is a big thrill for me as I just LOVE the amazing creations on this site...  the talent at The Colour Room is "out of this world".  Thank  you so much Emmeline you made my day AND my week and a massive thank you to Emma Trout as she has just told me she picked my LO which means the world to me as I absolutely ADORE her amazing work!!!

A big congrats to Belinda Spencer and Lindy Gillespie who were also featured this week... your creations are stunning and so inspiring :)

KIU CT CALL

Fingers Crossed

Decided to send in an application for KIU CT as I am a big fan of this challenge site!! Here are the LO's I submitted...  fingers crossed!!

Used some gorgeous SL Mix and Mend pp's which I hand cut then added quite a few other elements to add a bit more dimension to the LO.  There are some chipboard flowers, crochet and hand dyed doilies, a gorgeous ribbon rose, rubons, gingham, buttons, MS punched butterflies and some machine stitching.

Went for a bit of a grunge look on this LO of Luke and of course my fav technique ATM... paint. Used some BG Kraft & mixed pp's from different brands with various embellies.  The little peek-a-boo was made with a Tim Holtz stamp on acetate.  I also recycled the piece of ribbon and tag from a KMart expression brand of clothing and MS & EK Success punches.

No Way

The Colour Room #35
Once again, I loved the vivid colour palette for TCR challenge 35.  Decided to create a grungy teen LO as I usually do girly LO's for the colour room.  This is a pic I took of Luke last Christmas Eve. Whilst I was clicking away I was trying to get some hints on my Chrissie present out of Luke.  The title reads "No Way - not telling mum" and the journal spot reads & Then He Said "OK just a little hint, but don't tell dad".
Used BG basics for my background with paint and Prima rubons and the yellow pp I hand cut  from some old Prima then added some cogs from Scrapmatts.  Also used some Sass Lass, Bo Bunny and a Cosmo journal spot.  The bingo card is made with a Tim Holtz stamp and the star punch is from Martha Stewart.
Exciting News!!
Just received an email from Scrapbooking memories that another of my LO's has been accepted for publication... SO EXCITED!!!

Christmas Cutie

Kraft It Up - December

Had fun using some gorgeous bright colours for the challenge at KIU this month, which was to create a Christmas LO using Kraft (of course), non-traditional Christmas colours and knots somewhere on your LO.   I thought I would use these pics from a couple of Christmases ago as the colours were so non-Christmassy!!!

Decided to go for bright blue, hot pink and black for my LO and bordered it with hand stitching and french knots in hot pink twine.

WW1 - Dec Challenge

We had a fabulous response to last months WW1.  There were so many gorgeous entries and it was so so difficult to choose the winners!!!  This month at WW1 the challenge is white + grey + masking... pop on over and check out the CT creations, they are absolutely gorgeous... so many fabulous masking techniques!!!

Decided to mask the background of my LO with white paint and a BG doily which created a lovely soft lacy look.  A large scalloped circle in LYB pp to frame my photo and some doily lace with flowers and bling centres to tie in with the lacy look.  The flower cluster was made from a necklace which I pulled apart to reuse and added some Prima bling to glitz it up and a couple of pearl heart pins.  I stamped the journal spot for my title with a Tim Holtz stamp and also stamped the butterfly with a gorgeous Darkroom Door stamp in grey ink.  Finished off with a bit of ribbon and a bit more bling.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love :)

The Colour Room #34

Here is my Colour Room # 34 LO.  This colour palette was absolutely gorgeous... 2 of my favourite colours teal and red are in this one... such fabulous contrasts!!

Finally got around to using one of the new Pink Paislee House of 3 gorgeous resist papers and inked it in teal and green brilliance inks.  The flowers were hand cut from MME So Sophie pp and the red c/s was embossed with Cuttlebug script folder.  The gorgeous dress form is from Scrapmatts... I tied some red twine around the waist and added a Prima flower centre and some tiny feathers. Added the Websters flower ribbon for a gorgeous pop of colour, touch of lace and a few glittered butterflies from Ruby Rock It, then finished off with some Scarlet glimmer mist.

There is a great tutorial at Annas Craft Cupboard by Nic Pomeroy on how to use the new Pink Paislee resist papers.

Challenge Heaven - New Challenges

Well the new challenges are up for the month at Challenge Heaven... so go and check them out for some wonderful inspiration... so many to choose from!!!

Here are my DT LO's for this month:

Theme Challenge

This month's theme challenge was Grandparents and you also had to use Kraft as your base.  Well  I had to dig around to find a photo and came up with an old one of Brittany and Luke with their Gran so my title was "Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever". Used some BG Kraft for my base and ripped and distressed the Fancy Pants pp so you could see more of the Kraft base, teamed with some lovely Prima pp's and a gorgeous flower to keep it soft and pretty.

Word Challenge

This month's challenge was to use the word "Sunshine" in your title and to use 4 pp's.

Loved using these bright & happy pp's.  The 4 I chose were the new MME Fine & Dandy, October Afternoon, Bo Bunny and My Little Shoebox.  My title reads "You are my little ray of Sunshine".  I decided to silhouette the photo of Brittany to make it stand out, then added some hand dyed doilies and pleated the punched border for some texture and finished off with some hand-stitching.

Time Flies

Scrap The Boys - Nov 15

Trying to get  a few challenges in before the end of the month.  I had a clear idea of what I wanted for this LO and it just seemed to come together really well... which was a nice change as I have been struggling a bit with my LO's lately.

The 2nd challenge for STB this month was to use chipboard and alter it in some way.  I used a gorgeous balloon chipboard embellie from Scrapmatts which I backed in pp then went over in porcelain Luminescence... unfortunately you can't see the glimmer very well.  I used an old Cherry Arte chipboard clock and added wings which were stamped with the Tim Holtz visual artistry stamp set, then I flicked some ochre paint over them with a toothbrush to tie in with the Bo Bunny Cambridge & Scrap Within Reach pp's.   I also stamped some balloons on chipboard with the Kaiser Up Up & Away stamp set.  The mustard cs was put through the Diamonds in the Rough Cuttlebug embossing folder as it went perfectly with the pattern on the background paper.

The pics are of Luke now at 17 and when he was my darling little baby boy at 2.  Like the title says "Time Flies"... the journaling reads "where does the time go??? It seems like in the blink of an eye you have gone from my cute  little munchkin to this handsome young man."

Life is Sweet

Get Picky Sketch

Here is my last minute entry for the Get Picky sketch challenge. This is a fabulous new challenge site where you need to use multiple photos... go check it out, the creations on this site are absolutely fabulous!!

Decided to use a technique that I have noticed in various galleries where you use left over alphas.  Chantal at Bon's Scraps has a wonderful tutorial for this technique.  I used some pink foam alphas so I really had to slap on the paint to cover them.  Wasn't too sure whether they would show up very well so I splattered on some red paint over the top to make them stand out a little more.  Used some BG Wander... LOVE!! that range... & Bella Blvd Midterm pp's with some red cs which I embossed for a bit more texture.  A few rubons to take the place of the butterflies in the sketch and some bright Glitz Design & LYB stickers for the title.

DON'T FORGET

There are only a few days left to get your entries in to WW1 and Challenge Heaven!!!  Go check out their sites as there are some absolutely fabulous creations to inspire you!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving some love :)

The Colour Room #33

Beautiful Days

I haven't done a Colour Room challenge for a little while and thought I would get this one in before the deadline.  Used some Fancy Pants pp's.  Layered up some Prima flowers and doilies for a bit of texture and stamped the blue background to try and lift it a little as I'm not really a pastel girl.  The burgundy paper was white washed, and crumpled but it doesn't really show very well, and I only did a little bit of hand cutting on this one as I didn't have too much time to scrap.  The little quote says "Live in the present and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering"

ONLY 5 DAYS TO GO!!!

There are only 5 days left to get your Challenges in at Challenge Heaven.  There are some great prizes up for grabs from:

Avid Scrappers
Mad about Scrappin'
My 2 Angels
Old Favourites
Scrap Addix
Scraptique
The Stamp Spot

so go and check out the gallery for some wonderful inspiration!!!

This month's 123 Challenge criteria were:

THE WORD: Live

These pics are of Luke on holidays in Forster having a fabulous time waterskiing. He was a natural and got up the first time!! Used lots of blue paint & LYB pp's. The title says "Live Loud Play Hard" and I doodled around the Tim Holtz mesh stamp. Finished off with a few splatters of yellow paint.

ONLY 8 DAYS LEFT!!

There are still 8 days left to get your LO's in at WW1's Challenge site. This month the challenge is white with yellow and journaling directly on to your LO. Go check it out as there are some absolutely gorgeous LO's so far!!

Stuck Sketches

Nov 15th - 3 of us Together

My take on 2nd sketch challenge for November.  Pic of me and the kids... we had to take about 20 shots to get one where we all look normal!!!  Used the new Cosmo Cricket Curio, & some old Bo Bunny pp's with a lick of black paint to frame the photo.  The flowers were purchased overseas on ebay and are simply devine (can't really see how good they look in a photo).  Used the doily trim for a bit of contrast, chipboard butterflies which I painted black and a bit of black hand stitching to break up all the red.

Super Hero

Scrap The Boys - Nov 1

This LO has taken forever to finish as I just wasn't lovin it!!  I've had it on my work bench since Sunday and kept going back to it & not liking how it was coming out.  I realised it was the images that I had cut out from an old comic book that just weren't  the right colour.  They were the perfect images as Luke had taken a fall from quite a height when he broke both his arms and cracked head, so I really wanted to use them, but the colours were too wishy washy.  I ended up getting my amazing son to help me manipulate the colour on the images in photoshop and voila!!! it made a huge difference.

I used some old Kaisercraft, Bo Bunny & WRMK pp's (trying to use up the massive amount of stash I have) with black cs to make it pop, & some old LYB Zach's Life  stickers.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Sweet as Candy?

The Lollipop Ladies - Challenge #8

When I saw the jar of jellybeans as inspiration for The Lollipop Ladies challenge I knew I would have to take part as I had the perfect photo. This pic was taken when I dragged the kids out for a photo shoot last year.  We saw this huge poster advertising a lolly shop and thought it would make a fab background.  The title says it all... Brittany was pretty much over it by this stage and was giving me attitude... but it's still a great pic!!

Used some bright pp's to go with the jellybeans, some cute MS punches and some doodling in black to tie in with the black title.  The extra criteria on this challenge was to use gloss on your creation.  I used the gloss on the ink splats, mushrooms and the coloured sections on the doodled border.

Visit with Melissa

Finally managed to get together with the lovely Melissa O'Neill who has the most gorgeous scrapping style and who I have gotten to know through scrap blogging.  We had a fabulous time but ended spending most of it chatting instead of scrapping lol!!  I also got to meet her adorable little boy Nate, who was such a little darling during our visit.  Mel took a few snaps of Nate and the kids... I even let her take one of the two of us :0   You may all know I hate having my pic taken!!

I'm so looking forward to our next visit when this time we will get stuck into some serious scrapping!!  Thanks for a lovely day Mel :)

Scrap The Girls

Love to Watch You Sleep

Haven't had much time to scrap the past week, so I pulled out my papers last night to work on the Scrap the Girls challenge.  Had fun using some bright pp's for this “Bits and Pieces” challenge.

The rules are to use every piece of the puzzle ONCE ONLY! you can't add anything else to your page aside from the elements, they represent all the patterned papers, photos and embellishments - (exception to this rule is your base page does not count as a puzzle piece and you can add a title, ink, stitching, paint & glimmermist ).

The stars can represent ANY embellishment, the heart must be used as a heart, the circles must be used as circles - it is up to you how big or small they are, or what they are!  The puzzle pieces are obviously not to scale, it is completely up to you what size you want to make them.

I adore this old pic of Brittany fast asleep with a book still in her hands... she looks so so cute!!!  Managed all the bits & pieces... 3 circles with button centres.. my 2 stars were the cute little embellies I made using pics from an old Dr Suess book.. my heart is in the title and there are 5 rectangles and 2 strips of pp and a piece of ruffled lace for my 3 long strips.

YAY!!! - Won a Prize!!

I was so happy to have my LO chosen for Stuck Sketches and won  a voucher from Scrapbook Savvy.  I hadn't done a Stuck Sketch for a while... so it was a nice surprise.  Thanks so much Sara... you made my day!! :)

The Colour Room #30

Sweet Louie

When I saw this colour palette for TCR I knew I would have to use a photo of our Cocker Spaniel Louie.  He has the sweetest face... even when he's being naughty it's hard to stay mad when he looks at you with those big brown eyes!  He had just finished digging a hole in my garden when this pic was taken.

Painted my background on textured cardstock for something different and got out the needle and thread to stitch and knot the border.  A few scraps and some doilies and finished off with some Prima flowers with some gorgeous covered buttons I just purchased from Sam at Purple Pumpkin... aren't they just scrummy!!

WW1 November Challenge

So excited to be part of the White With 1 CT.  You really must go and check this site out, the Creative Team LO's for the month are absolutely gorgeous!!!  There are fabulous prizes to be won from Scrap Therapy, Scrap Boutique, Scrapbook Divas, Pretty Petals and Scrap Addix.

This month's challenge for WW1 is to use the colours  white with yellow and to journal directly on to your layout.  This can be your cardstock or patterned paper.  You can not use journal blocks, strips etc and your LO must be predominantly white and yellow.  You may use a small amount of black for journaling and inking etc,  but this must not detract from the other colours.

This was my take for the challenge.  When I received these new papers from Websters I new I would have to use them for this challenge... I just love daisies!!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Get Picky

Noticed this new Get Picky challenge site and thought I would have a go.  This was my take on the sketch.  I just took these pics of Luke and of course he was making silly faces, but I managed to get a few good ones of him smiling.  He's 17  now,  I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by.

Used Rose Moka, Prima, Bo Bunny and BG pp's, some knotted Green Tara twine, machine stitching and of course a splash of paint always looks good on a teen boy LO.

Made My Day

I thought I would share these cute little creations with made by my sweet little neighbours next door.  We have such lovely new neighbours with 2 gorgeous girls who are very arty crafty.  I have been sorting through my scrap stash and having a big cleanout, so I decided to pass on a big bag of bits and pieces.  The girls were in heaven going through the bag.  Yesterday I found these two adorable little Thank You cards in my mailbox... just made my day!!

Thanks for stopping by :)
